Peer To Peer Uganda (PEERU) is a registered non-profit
organization that works towards social transformation and sustainable
development with special emphasis placed on vulnerable and inadequately served
groups of adolescents and youths (10 – 30 years) in Uganda. With foot prints in
over 16 districts, PEERU has demonstrated that young people are significant
actors in development and can drive positive change at grass root, national,
regional and global levels.

Job Summary:  The main objective of the Programme Manager is
to effectively co-ordinate implementation of projects, programs and management
of their inter-dependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising
at Peer To Peer Uganda (PEERU).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  The
Programme Manager is expected to perform the following functions;

                 
Manage and coordinate project activities, from
substantive, administrative, strategic and financial points of view.

                 
Strategic planning / development and
implementation of programs and activities.

                 
Supervision of the Project personnel’s and
ensure effective communication and coordination between the Project offices and
the broader PEERU team.

                 
Provide direction and leadership in advocating
organisation objectives and in ensuring that all interested parties are well
informed about the organisation activities and goals.

                 
Identify any support and advice required for the
management, planning and control of the organizational activities.

                 
Timely preparation and compilation of the Project
based Annual/Quarterly Work Plans and Progress/Final substantial and financial
reports

                 
Together with the resource mobilization team,
prepare funding proposals and concepts for mobilization of resources for
sustainability of the organization.

                 
Prepare progress reports to donor organizations,
monitoring, evaluation and lessons learned reports and other relevant
project-related documents

                 
Guide and orient efforts and contributions of
consultants, staff and government counterparts towards achievement of organisation
objectives.

                 
Manage and monitor financial resources and
accounting of programme resources to ensure accuracy and reliability of
financial reports.

                 
Endeavor to build professional relationships
with relevant national, regional, international partner agencies – authorities
local, district and regional authorities to ensure professional relationships
with, relevant developing programmes/projects.

                 
Perform other duties that may be required by
PEERU Programme Officer and Senior Management.

                 
Managing program budgets on behalf of PEERU and
the finance officer, monitoring expenditure and cost against deliverables and
realized benefits as the programme progresses.

                 
Ensuring the delivery of activities or
interventions from projects is to the appropriate level of quality, implemented
timely and within budget in accordance with the programme plan and programme
governance arrangements

                 
Reporting the progress of the running and new
programmes at regular intervals to the Executive Director

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

                 
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in
Business Administration, Procurement, Logistics, Management, Human Resource or
a related field.

                 
Additional training in project management and
leadership are an advantage!

                 
Three years’ experience in programme and project
development, implementation, and leadership in NGOs setting.

                 
Experience in concept and proposal writing
(Evidence for previous grant writings is added advantage)

                 
Knowledge and expertise in execution of health
programmes and activities.

                 
Demonstrable understanding of issues of national
and global universal health coverage, young peoples’ health environment, human
rights and more.

                 
Project management, leadership and conflict
resolution techniques and processes

                 
Knowledge on national and global approaches and
policies

                 
Ability to plan, organize work, communicate and
generate activities, reports (both in writing and verbally)

                 
Prioritization of tasks and meet deadlines.

                 
Organisation and planning skills

                 
Creative thinking and awareness and analytical to
effectively respond to organizational needs

                 
Demonstrable and strong programme writing and
tracking techniques

                 
Good interpersonal and communication skills

                 
Strong IT skills in Ms applications,
e-communication, applications, google docs, among others.

                 
Time management and ability to prioritize
multiple tasks

                 
Self-motivated person able to work without close
supervision

                 
Willing to work additional hours at crucial
times

                 
Able to work effectively in a diverse team
environment

                 
Able to promote PEERU’s mission, values, and
objectives
