About US:

The Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (LGRB) is a body
corporate established under the Lotteries and Gaming Act No.7 of 2016 to
supervise and regulate the establishment, management and operation of
lotteries, gaming, betting and casinos in Uganda.

Job Summary:  The Head Legal and Board Affairs will be
responsible for provision of advice on all legal matters, compliance with laws,
policies and regulations; draft laws and regulations and be a Board Secretary
for the LRGB. The incumbent will plan and coordinate ; Litigation, Contracts,
Board affairs/meetings; Licensing and Compliance, and provide legal counsel to
the Board.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Provide Legal Advice to the Board and
management.

·       
Draft and review Laws, regulations, agreements
and internal policies and ensure they are in compliance with all statutory or
legal requirements.

·       
Supervise and conduct LGRB Litigation in courts
of law and other adjudicating fora in line with the applicable laws.

·       
Manage the arbitration process of complaints
relating to lotteries, gaming, betting and casinos.

·       
Oversee compliance and enforcement operations.

·       
Liaise with the relevant departments to ensure
that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have
been taken.

·       
Manage the periodic operator review or audits to
ensure compliance procedures are followed.

·       
Plan, direct, coordinate and review the
work-plans for Legal, Compliance and Enforcement Staff.

·       
As Board Secretary, coordinate and prepare Board
Meeting schedules, agenda, secretarial service, communication of Board
decisions and reports for meetings in line with the Boards guidelines.

·       
Coordinate the necessary follow ups of Board
resolutions with action Officers in line with Board’s guidelines

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicant must hold an Honours Degree in Law

·       
Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice

·       
Membership to relevant professional Bodies e.g.
Uganda Law society, East African Law society

·       
Master’s Degree in Law or Business
Administration is an added advantage

·       
At least six years’ experience of which 3 years
must have been at managerial level in a reputable organisation.

·       
Experience as Board secretary is desirable
