Job Summary: The Finance Officer
will support the Finance Manager in the day-to-day running of the Samaritan’s Purse
Finance Department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Review all payment requests and supporting documentation; process cash
disbursements,
cash returns, staff expense reports, wire payments and cheque requests.
· Manage various ledgers, including petty cash, safe, tax, etc.
· Support weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reviews and reporting
procedures.
· Assist with preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
· Manage cash flow to ensure adequacy of funds at Kampala office.
· Compile, check and maintain proper filing of all finance documents in
hard and soft copy.
· Assist with preparation for and hosting of internal and external audits.
· Provide support to all SP staff with regard to financial policies and
budget management.
· Implement strong internal
controls, in line with SP Field Operating Guidelines (FOG).
· Conduct all activities in the
most cost-effective and efficient manner, in line with Samaritan’s Purse, Government of
Uganda and donor policies and best practices.
· Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in
Accounting/Finance or related field.
· Pursuance of CPA/ACCA Level 1 qualifications an advantage.
· At least four (4) years’ relevant work experience, preferably within
the NGO sector
· Excellent knowledge of local and national tax regulations
· Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
and experienced in utilizing
specialized accounting software.
· Proactive, dynamic, personable and fast learner; highly analytical
with attention to detail
· Commitment to excellence, integrity and stewardship of resources
· Must agree with and uphold the values and objectives of the organization.
