About US:

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL)
is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act.
UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution network and all
the operational assets associated with the business currently leased to Umeme
Ltd. UEDCL monitors Umeme Ltd’s investment, distributes power in eight (8)
territories covering over 60 Districts operates the pole plant at Lugogo, and
executes some of the rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Ministry of
Energy and Mineral Resources.

Job Summary:   The Linesman will support the Technical
assistant in: Connections, Power restorations, Network Expansion and
Maintenance while paying strict attention to safety

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Carry out construction of the distribution
system extensions, development schemes and services in conformity with UEDCL.’s
specifications and standards

·       
Carry out installations and maintenance of
overhead lines, switch gear, distribution transformers and underground cables
according to UEDCL standards.

·       
Carry out line clearance as need arises

·       
Account for materials issued for construction
and maintenance works plus ensuring safe custody of tools.

·       
Carry out connections of new customers (service
connections and meter installations).

·       
Assist in carrying out disconnections and
reconnections as may be requested from time to time

·       
Apply without exception safety measures per
assignment while carrying out any duties.

·       
Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by
the Technical Assistant.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
He / she should hold a Certificate /Diploma in
electrical engineering

·       
A minimum of two (2) years post qualification
experience in electrical related industry.

·       
Accuracy

·       
Honesty

·       
Attention to detail

·       
Good communication skills

·       
Customer service skills
