international NGO with headquarters in Italy, which has been active in Uganda
since 1984. Its current activities are focused in the areas of education,
health, livelihoods, and protection, nutrition and refugee programs in Uganda.

Job Summary:  The Senior Program Advisor will lead AVSI’s
business development initiatives towards increasing the funding portfolio and
delivery of consistent quality programs”.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Lead
AVSI business development initiatives and identify new streams of funding to
contribute towards AVSI fund portfolio diversification

·       
Provide
technical advisory and mentorship services for existing projects

·       
Support
initiatives within the area of monitoring, evaluation and learning to ensure
AVSI’s compliance within M&E requirements for various projects and further
enhance AVSI’s capacities’ as a learning organization.

·       
Identify
policy and programmatic implementation gaps and develop appropriate guidelines
and procedures for AVSI programs and activities

·       
Build
relationships with relevant stakeholders including key ministries and
departments to foster collaborations that benefit AVSI Foundation initiatives
and promote programmatic activities to potential participants.

·       
Support
AVSI projects and staff in developing different donor/ other reports for use at
different levels. This will include the annual AVSI report and other required
reports

·       
Build
and maintain broad network of external partnerships with donors, government and
other partners

·       
Distill
key lessons from programming to develop materials for engagement with donors,
government and other partners

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the AVSI Foundation Senior Program Advisor career should hold a Master’s
degree in or equivalent to international development, public health, social
development, psychology, statistics and or other development related fields.

·       
At least
five years’ experience in development work particularly in resource
mobilization.

·       
Demonstrated
track experience in the areas of proposal development, grants management,
resource mobilization and donor contract management.

·       
Excellent
knowledge and understanding of international donor interests, priorities and
proven successes in business development and proposal writing

·       
Experience
in capacity building and prior experience in design, delivery, or management of
programs in education, youth, health, economic empowerment, water and
sanitation and humanitarian responses in Uganda.

·       
Expertise
working with different donors including; USAID, EU, DFID, UNICEF and other UN
Agencies etc on funding proposals and grant management

·       
Excellent
interpersonal skills and communication skills

·       
Exceptional
command of spoken and written English and any other International Language
