environmental protection active in almost 100 countries. WWF has a growing
conservation Programme in the Republic of Uganda. WWF Uganda Country Office
(WWF UCO) works with central and local government agencies, the private sector,
civil society organizations (CSOs) and the local communities to implement its
various conservation programmes on Energy and Climate, Forestry and Wildlife,
and Freshwater in Uganda.


Job Summary: Support the Africa Energy Coordinator (AEC) in
developing the Africa Energy Access Initiative (AEAI) and delivery of the
Regional Energy Program as coordinated by the Uganda Country Office (UCO) as
the Africa Energy Hub for the WWF Global Climate and Energy Practice strategies
for Africa. Will closely support the mandates below.

·       Development of a
coherent and well-articulated programmatic approach for the Africa Regional
Energy Hub, in collaboration with the WWF Global Climate and Energy Practice,
relevant WWF Country Offices, the Regional Office for Africa, as well as key
partners and the private sector;

·       Development of the
Africa Energy Access initiative (AEAI) – specifically on areas related to
Energy finance and markets;

·       Effective coordination
and collaboration between the WWF country offices in Africa in the development
and implementation of the Regional Energy Programme and AEAI, including
partnership development, proposal development and identification of other opportunities
within the Hub’s mandates and priorities, and .

·       Effective coordination
and collaboration with relevant strategic partners, such as Civil Society
Organizations (CSOs), interGovernmental Organizations, donors, etc.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Supports the
documentation and communication of energy access related best practices and
lessons learned in consultation with national focal persons in WWF Africa
country offices.

·       Supports implementation
of key strategic energy interventions coordinated by the Hub including among
others, the Sustainable Energy Access Forums (SEAFs), and Leading the Change.

·       Designs and implements
regional activities for strengthening CSOs for effective replication and up
scaling of high impacts energy access success stories.

·       Supports development of
annual and quarterly work plans, budgets (and programs), and procurements of
the Hub.

·       Supports AEC in
technical and management oversight for ongoing partnerships with CSOs, Regional
Economic Commissions and others


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       Advanced degree in
Renewable/Sustainable Energy Management/ Environment and Natural
Resources/Business Administration/ Marketing/Entrepreneurship development with
experience in energy related finance, markets, and private sector partnerships.

·       At least 6 years’
experience in program development and management Post

·       Graduate training in
Project Planning and Management is an asset

·       Demonstrated experience
in monitoring and evaluation, mentorship and capacity building, and
mainstreaming gender and cross cutting issues.

·       Experience in energy
related-programs is required preferably with exposure to financial, marketing
and entrepreneurship development institutions.

·       Experience in CSOs
capacity development, communication, networking, lobbying and advocacy.

·       Good oral and written
communication skills within the energy space must be detail-oriented and have
the ability to multi-task under limited supervision.

·       Fluency in English and
at least one other major regional languagespoken (Swahili, French) in Africa
region is an added advantage.

·       Good conceptual,
analytical, logical and innovative problem-solving ability.

·       Good understanding of
key energy issues in Africa.

·       Demonstrated ability to
handle complex processes and information with a good understanding of how
platforms operate.

·       Ability to remain
effective under pressure, and with minimum supervision while working in a very
small team.

·       Ability to maintain
effective working relations both as a team member and team leader in a
multi-cultural environment
