About the Project:

The
German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has commissioned
the Geseilschaft fiir Internationale Zusammenarbeit(GIZ) with the Programme
“Strengthening Governance and Civil Society in Uganda”, co—funded by
the European Union. The main objective of the programme is that selected state
and civil society actors in Uganda are in better position to work towards the
compliance with human rights and governance principles (transparency,
accountability, efficient and effective management and political participation)
in their respective areas of responsibility.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Implementation and
monitoring of the visibility and communication plan of the project.

·       Mainstream communication
and visibility within the overall GIZ Programme and partner organisations.

·       Ensure regular
communication on project progress, innovations and results internally and
externally through different channels using different approaches.

·       Foster publication of
programme content.

·       Facilitate and organize
the communication and visibility efforts of the project

·       Further refine the
communication and visibility plan and strategy inline with EU requirements.

·       Structure and implement
the corresponding visibility monitoring including press and media monitoring.

·       Give technical advice to
colleagues, communication focal points and partner organisations on the EU
requirements for communication and visibility.

·       Give input on partner
organisation’s visibility, communication and awareness material activities, if
requested.

·       Refine and develop
communication and awareness material for the programme and the topics it is
addressing for different target groups, in different formats and for different
channels.

·       Organise press/ media
tours and the coverage of different events and interventions in press/ media.

·       Compile a quarterly CUSP
newsletter.

·       Regularly feed social
media channels.

·       Document success stories
for different target audiences, in different formats and for different
communication channels.

·       Conceptualize and
develop a short film or documentary on CUSP.

·       Ensure the correct use
of logos and disclaimers by the CUSP programme, all advisers and partners.

·       Other duties/additional
tasks

·       Ensure the ex-post
publication of Information on Contractors and Grant Beneficiaries of the CUSP
programme.

·       Strengthen communication
for and about civil society engagements In the policy formulation at national
and local levels;

·       Contribute to dialogue
and exchange between different stakeholders (state actors, NGOs, civil society) on
relevant topics.

·       Other duties as required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       The ideal applicant must
hold a University degree in public relations, communication, Journalism, communication
for development or similar field.

·       At least five years
professional experience in the preparation and implementation of communication
and awareness raising strategies.

·       Extensive experience in
dealing with media.

·       Experience in the
communication of EU funded programmes.

·       Very good knowledge of
spoken and written English, knowledge of local languages and German is an added
value
