About US:
The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a
statutory body under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Co-operatives
established by the UNBS Act Cap 327. It is governed by the National Standards
Council and headed by the Executive Director who is responsible for the
day-to-day operation of UNBS. The mandate of UNBS is to develop, promote and
enforce national standards in order to enhance competitiveness of Ugandan
products, promote fair trade and protect consumers and the environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Develop and continuously monitor marketing
policies to respond to public needs in relation to fulfilling the UNBS mandate.
·
Carry out market research and advise management
on the necessary changes that need to be undertaken to improve service delivery
so as to satisfy the stakeholder needs
·
Coordinate and manage corporate events and
creatively convert such events into sales/marketing activities for the benefit
of the Bureau
·
Conduct both in bound and out bound marketing
activities and coordinate brand awareness of standardization services in line
with UNBS mandate
·
Liaise with external vendors to execute
promotional events and campaigns and analyze feedback from stakeholders which
information will assist in policy reviews so as to improve the UNBS image
·
Develop marketing plan and budget and submit
monthly, quarterly and annual reports
·
Contribute to the update of brochures,
newsletters and magazines.
·
Design, print and participate in the
distribution of monthly promotional materials as necessary
·
Carry out resizing and tracking of newspaper ads
as necessary, and follow up with publications as and when required
·
Develop marketing communications campaigns.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The applicant must hold a Masters’ degree in
either Mass Communication, Journalism or Public Relations or related field from
a Recognized University.
·
Honours degree in either Mass Communication,
Journalism or Public Relations from a Recognised University.
·
Membership to a professional body
·
At least eight years of experience in a
reputable organization
·
Must be computer literate with skills in MS
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet applications
·
The successful candidate must have a high level
of integrity and professionalism, Communication, Teamwork and Analytical skills
and needs to be a team player, an excellent communicator with good oral
communication and presentation skills.
·
Age: Between 30 and 45 years
