Job Summary: To
implement all aspects of nutrition within WFP Cash based transfers
interventions. S/he will be responsible for initiating action in the areas of
sensitization on nutrition and hygiene practices, cooking demonstration within
the schools, capacity building on basic nutrition and hygiene practices,
strengthening environmental clubs in schools to replicate nutrition and hygiene
practices, Mapping out and sensitizing the community on the local staple food.
The role will be in charge over-seeing nutrition and hygiene interventions and
reporting on CBP to both WFP and WV.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Training &
capacity building
·
Provide trainings/orientation/technical inputs
to staff, community structure members, school management committee,
environmental clubs on nutrition and hygiene practices.
·
Capacity building of Staff (WV &
co-applicant) in management of nutrition and hygiene practices such as; hand
washing, waste disposal, dry rack establishment and compost pit.
·
Conduct nutrition and hygiene training through
cooking demonstration as well as sensitization
·
Build the capacity of the environment clubs in
schools to adopt and replicated nutrition and hygiene practices
·
Conduct follow up trainings to pregnant and
lactating mothers on balanced diet, food preparation and handling
·
Coordinates with the technical staff coming from
across Sectors for planning and implementations of the nutrition components
within the programme.
Implementation of
Nutrition component
·
Lead in sensitization of the GFA beneficiaries
on Nutrition and hygiene practices.
·
Map out the local staple food and sensitize the
community on utilization such alternatives while upholding the nutritional
composition (balanced diet)
·
Conduct cooking demonstration within the schools
using the cook stoves established under GFA
·
Oversee establishment and utilization of basic
hygiene practices: especially Hand washing equipment in schools
·
Work closely with the Community structure
members to ensure adherence to nutrition and hygiene practices: waste disposal,
dry rack, compost pits, hand washing equipment
·
Support the GFA beneficiaries to replicate
nutrition and hygiene practices within the community.
·
Support in development of key nutrition and
hygiene messages for dissemination during sensitization campaigns
Accounting and
reporting
·
Ensure all the planned nutrition activities are
executed and reported on
·
Conduct monitoring visits to FDP, school clubs,
Environmental clubs and programme beneficiaries and compile monitoring reports
for onward consolidation
·
Consolidate, compile and submit quality reports
to Project Coordinator as directed.
·
Ensure that all reports are highly accurate, comprehensive,
well documented and will guarantee the credibility of the program.
·
Ensure monthly progress report is completed and
submitted for onward compilation
Networking &
external engagements
·
Actively engage the school management, the GFA
beneficiaries and the technical team from the District Local Government and
sub-county to participate on nutrition and hygiene interventions within the
schools
·
Work with the MEAL team to establish and
implement feedback and complaints mechanisms on Nutrition across the programme
areas. This will include documenting all cases reported related to nutrition
and ensuring that they are handled and references made to the responsible
partners.
·
Support developing and dissemination of
Information and Education Communication materials on nutrition and hygiene
practices.
·
Supervision to co-applicant nutrition team,
volunteers, environmental groups and school clubs during implementation of
nutrition activities
·
Coordination with Nutrition partner for common
messaging and promotion of nutrition sensitive programming.
·
Other duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills And Experience:
·
The ideal applicant must be a Holder of degree
in Nutrition studies
·
Must have 2 years’ experience in relief
commodity management, Nutrition programming & Management, and Nutrition
survey and assessments.
·
Willing to work under extreme hardship with
limited resources.
·
Must possess excellent oral and written
communication skills in the English language and knowledge of the local
language spoken in West Nile
·
Holder of degree in Nutrition studies
·
Must have 2 years’ experience in relief
commodity management, Nutrition programming & Management, and Nutrition
survey and assessments.
·
Willing to work under extreme hardship with
limited resources.
·
Must possess excellent oral and written
communication skills in the English language and knowledge of the local
language spoken in West Nile.
