Uganda
Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) was established by an Act of Parliament
1991 and amended in 1994, Cap. 325 under the laws of the Republic of Uganda. UCDA
is established as a public Authority and its mandate is to promote and oversee
the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling
the quality and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimize foreign
exchange earnings for the country and payments to the farmers.

Job Summary:   The Legal Officer will provide support in the
Legal Department by providing quality in-house legal services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Participate in
developing and implementing of legal policies and procedures in line with the
UCDA Statute.

·       Draft legal
correspondences, briefs and reports, and provide advice on legal documents.

·       Carry out research on
all relevant laws and other subsidiary legislations to guide the Authority.

·       Provide and interpret
legal information and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff and
stakeholders of UCDA.

·       Conduct investigations
and gather information necessary for resolution of court disputes.

·       Assemble Court case
materials and summarize information for Court processes and assist in compiling
documented complaints and cases.

·       Prepare monthly,
quarterly and annual reports in line with the set policies and procedures;

·       Carry out any other
duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       The applicant for the
Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) Legal Officer job must hold a Bachelor
of Laws Degree (Hons) from a recognized university and a Post Graduate Diploma
in Legal Practice.

·       Must be enrolled as an
Advocate of the High Court with a valid Practicing Certificate.

·       Must possess a minimum
of four (4) years of legal practice and experience in a Law Firm or reputable
organization.

·       Must have knowledge and
a firm understanding of legal procedural matters.

·       Have excellent planning,
organization and presentation skills.

·       Have a high degree of
self-motivation and ability to work independently.

·       Have a flexible attitude
and be able to pay attention to detail.

·       Have excellent
communication skills (oral and written), and good team work. 5. Be result
oriented.
