About US:

Uganda
Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) was established by an Act of Parliament
1991 and amended in 1994, Cap. 325 under the laws of the Republic of Uganda. UCDA
is established as a public Authority and its mandate is to promote and oversee
the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling
the quality and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimize foreign
exchange earnings for the country and payments to the farmers.

Job Summary:   The Human Resource Officer will implement HR
related activities in benefits administration, employee relations, training,
performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment,
employment law compliance functional areas in accordance with approved
guidelines and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Implement recruitment
activities for required Staff, including placement of temporary employees and
interns, and conduct new-employee orientations as well monitor the
career-pathing program.

·       Support the Performance
Management process following the established performance management system.

·       Administer the employee
compensation program in line with approved policies and guidelines.

·       Maintain human resource
information system records and compile reports from established databases.

·       Coordinate the staff
capacity building exercises in accordance with the UCDA staff development
policy.

·       Provide support in contractual
processes and managing of staff exit processes / handover processes.

·       Implement and oversee
Staff’s adherence to the Staff Code of conduct and other Staff disciplinary
related cases.

·       Provide support in
handling employee relations, counseling, exit interviews, management of staff
queries and grievances / staff relationship management.

·       Implement the
Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures.

·       Prepare periodical
reports as requested by the Supervisor.

·       Carry out any other duties
as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       The applicant for the
Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) Human Resource Officer job must hold
a Bachelors’ Degree (First Class or Upper Second class) in Human Resource
Management, or Organizational Psychology, or Business Administration (HR
option), or Social Sciences, or equivalent degree from a recognized university;

·       Master’s Degree in Human
Resource Management, or Organizational Psychology or MBA (HR Option).

·       At least five (5) years
working experience in a Human Resource Department in a reputable organization
or NGO.

·       Familiarity with
Balanced Score Card system will be an added advantage.

·       Knowledge of
compensation strategies, performance management, employee relations, safety
practices and talent acquisition, and the ability to apply this information in
a manner that is compliant with relevant Employment Law and the UCDA Human
Resources Manual;

·       Capability of compiling
and analyzing employment data to guide strategic planning;

·       Excellent teamwork and
inter-personal skills, and a good understanding of human relationships, and
creating a culture of engagement;

·       Demonstrated
effectiveness in written and verbal communication.
