the needs of their families and communities. Works in partnership with a number
of donors, (institutional and corporate agencies) including; Norwegian Agency
for Development Cooperation (NORAD), Austrian Development Agency (ADA), Grieg
Foundation, ERIKS Development Partner, USAID/Bantwana World Education, AVIS
Foundation, Brand Charity, USAID/Uganda Private Health Support Program (UPHSP),
Terre des Hommes (TDH), Stanbic Bank Uganda, DHL – Go Teach, Madhvani Group of Companies.

Job Summary: The Grants Assistant supports the Grants Accountant to
manage grants provided to SOS Children’s Village Uganda. S/he is responsible
for providing support during the financial management and monitoring of sub-recipient
projects. S/he will also support the grants team in providing financial
management support to contractors /grantees. S/he performs a full range of
financial and management accounting which include the accurate maintenance of a
tracking record of grantee expenditures and advances, raising payments,
reviewing grantees’ financial reports, building financial management capacity
among grantees, ensure compliance with SOS/Donor rules and regulations, and
orienting grantees/KIPs on sub-grant requirements. This position may be based
at SOS Uganda Locations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·      
Work
collaboratively with the Grants Accountant and support in developing and
implementing
grants management systems.

·      
Follow
up on accountabilities fro
m sub-grantees in a timely manner to
necessitate processing of additional funding.

·      
Work
closely with the Grants Accountant in developing plans/budgets for the
financial needs of
sub grantees.

·      
Manage
and prepare reports for the Grants/ project under her
/his control and submit
them to the Grants Accountant by 7h of the following month./

·      
Ensure
that all requests are properly coded and charged to Projects where necessary

·      
Work
collaboratively with the other grants management team members in overseeing sub
grant
functions and coordinate preparation of grant agreements,
monitoring of grant periods and close out of the sub-grant awards.

Review
liquidation reports from sub-
grantees.

·      
Support
in management of hard copy / electronic filing structure and system for
financial
information and contracts related to sub- grants.

·      
Provide
support in tracking and reporting of financial performance of grants.

·      
Work
closely with Gran
ts management team to establish tools to track
supervision visits to partners and provide necessary updates to technical
teams.

·      
Other
duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
The
ideal applicant must hold a Degree in Business, Management, Finance, Admini
stration,
or other related field.

·      
At
least 3 years of relevant experience managing the financial and administrative
components
of grants, grants-under-contract, subcontracts,

·      
Excellent
interpersonal communications, and organizational skills.

·      
Ability
to independently plan and execute complex tasks while addressing daily
management details and remaining organized and focused on long-term deadlines
and strategy
