Job Summary:   The purpose of the Community Based Protection
Coordinator position is to implement delegated protection project portfolio.
This position reports to the Area Programme Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·      
Identify implementation opportunities for
cash-based interventions and market based programme and support staff implement
quality timely programmes

·      
Contribute to creating an enabling environment
for the implementation of cash-based interventions, working with support teams
in the institutionalization of cash (capacity building, guidance and SOP
development).

·      
Support the implementation of NRC’s Protection
Policy and global protection mainstreaming standards within Country Office
through working with programme management.

·      
Develop protection mainstreaming tools and
guidance, community based programming and continually update protection
mainstreaming action plans to ensure integrated and safe programming.

·      
Support the training, capacity building and
mentoring of field staff and awareness raising of non-staff (contractors and
incentive labour) on minimum protection standards

·      
Identify gaps in terms of field-based protection
support and line manage any additional field-based protection staff (camps and
urban) to ensure support to programme management on specific programme
initiatives and staff mentoring.

·      
Convene regular meetings of Programme
(Protection) Referral focal points to ensure quality in protection referrals in
line with NRC internal SOPs.

·      
Develop strong working relationships at the
Kampala AO level with external protection actors and referral partners.  Represent NRC at the field level in
protection coordination meetings

·      
Produce regular context analysis updates on key
protection trends and contribute to programme development discussions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
The applicant for the Norwegian Refugee Council
(NRC) Community Based Protection Coordinator job must have two years of
experience for working as Protection Coordinator in a humanitarian/recovery
context

·      
Previous experience from working in complex and
volatile contexts

·      
Documented results related to the position’s
responsibilities

·      
Experience working in coordination and liaising
with external actors

·      
Experience developing and delivering protection
training and good presentation skills in English

·      
Ability to multi-task and work with short
deadlines

·      
Ability to work independently and proactively
with limited daily support and supervision

Personal Qualities

·      
Knowledge of the context in Kampala Urban
Refugee settlement

·      
Knowledge of global protection standards and
relevant bodies of international law
