Refugees and people affected by conflict.Windle International Uganda is the
lead partner of UNHCR in implementing Education Projects in Uganda with close
collaboration with the Government of Uganda through the Office of the Prime
Minister.

Job Summary:  The Child Protection Officer will provide
technical and administrative support all through the program for child
safeguarding and protection programs/projects/activities at all WIU areas of
operation. He/ she will develop guidelines and strategies, spearhead the
planning, implementation, management and implementation a variety of technical
and administrative program tasks to facilitate WIU’s mandate and responsibility
to safeguard her most vulnerable beneficiaries below the age of 18.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for the periodic
review, update and implementation of the Windle

·      
International Child Protection and Safeguarding
Policy

·      
Liaise with relevant stakeholders and build new
working relationships in order to provide technical assistance in terms of
capacity building and knowledge sharing in Child Protection and Safeguarding

·      
Contribute to proposal development, donor
reporting, as well as internal and external reporting regarding child
protection interventions, achievements and lessons learned.

·      
Liaise with and provide support to protection
partners to follow up on and ensure complete management of referred protection
cases

·      
Support the Program team and providing guidance,
coaching and mentoring on child protection and Safeguarding as well as policy
sensitization for newly recruited staff

·      
Support in managing and monitoring child
protection related projects and /or integrate protection interventions in other
sectors’ projects and ensure all child protection inputs and requests are
included into flash or common appeals.

·      
Participate in inter-agency child protection
working groups, workshops, seminars and partner meetings on behalf of Windle
International Uganda

·      
Work with the M&E team to ensure that data
collection integrates child protection priorities and concerns

·      
Prepare reports, status updates and briefing
notes regularly on the subject of Child Protection

·      
Perform any other job related duties as may be
assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
The applicant must hold a University Degree in
Human rights, Child psychology, sociology, international law, Social Work and
Social development or other social science field

·      
Postgraduate award of Certification in
Children’s Rights, Protection or any related field is an added advantage

·      
At least two years of professional experience in
social development, planning and management in child protection and/other
related areas at a reputable NGO or INGO is required;

·      
Relevant experience in child protection and
related areas, program/project development and management in a UN system agency
or organization is an asset;

·      
Demonstrated experience of working on child
protection and policy reforms and capacity building is required.

·      
Relevant experience in legal drafting and
knowledge in legislative reform and international law pertaining to children is
required.

·      
Must have no history of violation of child
protection or Children’s rights
