leader in reporting on and advocating for people displaced within their own
country.

Job Summary:    The purpose of the assistant positions is to
assist in the day to day implementation of the Education Urban Project. The
incumbent will closely work with the teachers, learners and the community
members.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·      
Distribute and monitor the use of school
materials according to procedures

·      
Administer teachers’ and school children’s
payments and entitlements

·      
Ensure community mobilization/sensitization on
Education and other related activities.

·      
Ensure community participation, contribution and
ownership in the Education program Provide on-site support supervision and
feedback to Education teachers and Head teachers and Instructors.

·      
Carry home visits to Education learners/students
and take part in discussing issues that affect the child as a mentoring
process.

·      
Liaise with community leaders to ensure that
Out-of-School Children (OOSC) benefit from Education activities.

·      
Identify community concerns that hinder the
enrolment of children in school, retention and completion and recommend
measures to address them.

·      
Prepare weekly and monthly reports on activities
within each school with relevant data

·      
Inspect and supervise regularly all the
Education centers/schools.

·      
Ensure a constructive co-operation with local
authorities and host schools in implementing Education activities.

·      
Assist in identification and registration of
learners (database)

·      
Assist in updating learners and teachers’
database.

·      
Participate in relevant meetings including
coordination meetings with other education partners at field level.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
The applicant for the Norwegian Refugee Council
(NRC) Education Assistant job must hold a Bachelor of Education or relevant
field from a recognised institution.  

·      
At least two years of experience from working
with education projects in a humanitarian/recovery context especially in urban
settings.

·      
Previous experience from working in complex,
volatile and urban contexts

·      
Documented results related to the position’s
responsibilities

·      
Fluency in both spoken and written English

·      
Ability to speak any local language commonly
spoken by the beneficiaries

·      
Knowledge of the local context and education
systems in Uganda

Personal Qualities

·      
Registered with Ministry of Education and Sports
and in possession of registration certificate

·      
Demonstrated Teaching experience of five years
and above.

·      
Ability to work harmoniously with the refugees
and host communities.

·      
Excellent Computer skills (Ms. Word, Excel,
Power Point, etc.)
