About US:

AVSI is an
international NGO with headquarters in Italy, which has been active in Uganda
since 1984. Its current activities are focused in the areas of education, health,
livelihoods, and protection, nutrition and refugee programs in Uganda.

About Project:

AVSI is leading a
consortium comprising of AVSI Foundation, Arua Municipal council and Uganda Bureau
of Statistics (UBOS) to implement the RMM project in Arua District. The overall
goal of the project is to strengthen the structural and institutional
mechanisms for reception, management and integration of involuntary migrants in
Arua Municipal Council.

Job Summary:   The Livelihood Coaches will support the
implementation of RMM sustainable livelihood initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Create
awareness about the project and mobilize target participants (most vulnerable
HHs) to participate in project activities.

·       
Participate
in Labour Market, Gender and Vulnerability Assessments.

·       
In
collaboration with Program officers facilitate trainings for project
participants on SPM, Financial literacy and life skills

·       
Mobilise
project participants for assets transfer and participate in the post
distribution monitoring to families that receive business Start-up.

·       
Participate
in the identification of target household members for apprenticeship and
Vocational Skills training

·       
Support
the identification and integration of activities that enhance Social Cohesion
between Involuntary Migrants and Host community

·       
Participate
in the mapping of social and economic service within Arua Municipal council

·       
Conduct
referral and linkages of participant’s households and informal business for
critical socio-economic services within and outside Arua Municipal to linkages
to government social protection programs and the private sector e.g. Financial
Institutions.

·       
Provide
business coaching to all the targeted Vulnerable Households using the GROW
business coaching Model.

·       
Participate
in household level visits and follow ups on Project Activities

·       
Prepare
regular progress reports

·       
Identify,
respond and follow up on issues raised by the communities as feasible

·       
Ensure
gender mainstreaming and integration in the daily implementation of activities
in line with RMM gender guideline

·       
Prepare
and submit monthly activity reports and other reports as requested by the
Program Officer-Institutional Capacity building and Livelihoods

·       
Collect,
compile, accurate and Quality data for planning and reporting

·       
Perform
other duties as requested by the supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the AVSI Foundation Livelihood Coach should hold a diploma in
social works, business studies, economics, development studies, or related
discipline

·       
At least
three years of field experience in a similar position in development and/or
humanitarian context.

·       
Experience
delivering business development services to micro-businesses in the informal
sector.

·       
Proven
ability to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity of households to engage
in viable economic activities.

·       
Experience
working with extremely vulnerable communities in urban and peri-urban setting.

·       
Flexibility
to work both in a team and independently

·       
MUST be
a current resident of Arua Hill and River Oli or neighboring villages.

·       
Strong
facilitation, written and verbal communication skills with ability to write
reports

·       
Cultural
sensitivity, patience and flexibility

·       
Use of
tablets and/or electronic devices for survey data collection;

·       
Required
Language: English fluency. Knowledge of Kiswahili and any of the
widely spoken local languages i.e. Arabic, Kakwa, Lugbara, is a desirable.
