About us:

Whave
is a Ugandan non-profit social enterprise working with local government and
rural communities to provide water maintenance services. Whave’s technicians
perform regular checks and respond immediately when worn parts threaten a breakdown,
to ensure that water keeps flowing every day. Communities pay a small annual
fee, and government provides regulation and support, so that the services are
sustainable at scale.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·      
Mechanical, electrical and civil aspects, including deployment of
prototype Pre-Paid Automatic Dispensers, yield testing, construction and
rehabilitation of motorized and manual boreholes

·      
Introducing and managing preventive maintenance contracts for communities
and other stakeholders such as NGOs, district government and water source
sponsors

·      
Training and sub-county officials and councillors on mobilization of
preventive maintenance in rural communities, and partnering with them

·      
 Assisting local government in
formulating and implementing appropriate legislation

·      
 Assist communities to build VSLAs
incorporating water source management

·      
Manage financial and administrative tasks with integrity and efficiency
including managing local technicians and pump attendants

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
The ideal applicant must hold a Degree level qualifications in related
fields, including in Water/Environmental/Biosystems, Public Health Sciences,
Social Sciences, Business Administration, Development Studies, Adult and
Community Education, Social Work Social Administration

·      
Community work experience of at least 2 years, and / or Business
experience for example in marketing or savings and loans, micro-finance
