About US:

The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) is a Ugandan
government agency that provides deposit insurance to depositors in Ugandan
Banks, Credit Institutions and Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions (MDIs).

Job Summary:    The
Senior Officer – Strategy and Research will conduct and research and develop
strategies for the Fund based on the finance, banking and deposit insurance
industry trends and regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Participate in broad intra and inter-agency
studies for example, with International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI)
of the financial services industry and of the regulatory framework,
particularly in relation to the work of the Fund.

·       
Participate in making presentations and
recommendations as to which funds should be included in portfolio managers’
portfolios.

·       
Develop reports to illustrate business,
industry, or economic conditions.

·       
Monitor the financial news using specialist
media sources and provide relevant feedback and recommendations to Fund.

·       
Works closely with the CEO to build a business
plan that underpins the Fund’s Strategic Plan and business requirements.

·       
Prepares policy papers on Deposit Insurance
related matters.

·       
Researches, compiles, and analyzes information
on complex subjects pertaining to the financial services industry and markets
as well as national, international and regional economic developments in order
to determine the extent of compliance with laws, rules, and regulations that
govern the Fund.

·       
Reviews and assesses the impact of new
legislation, technological developments, and similar matters related to the
examination process and broader supervisory functions.

·       
Publishes major developments, news in a
quarterly in-house news magazine for the staff of the Fund.

·       
Monitors fundamental economic, industrial, and
corporate developments by analyzing information from financial publications,
government agencies, trade publications, company sources, or personal
interviews.

·       
Devises and evaluate methods and procedures for
collecting data, such as surveys, opinion polls, or questionnaires, or arrange
to obtain existing data.

·       
Measures and assesses customer and employee
satisfaction.

·       
Gathers information about the investments to
assist with valuation.

·       
Performs other work-related duties as assigned,
within your scope of practice.

Review of research papers and statistics from
the banking sector.

Participation in inter-agency studies and
respective proposals and recommendations to the Fund.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The ideal candidate for the Deposit Protection
Fund of Uganda (DPF) Senior Officer – Strategy and Research job placement must
hold a first-class or upper second-class bachelor’s degree in accounting,
finance, commerce, economics statistics, mathematics, business administration,
management, strategy or related field from an accredited institution, is
essential.

·       
3+ years of working experience as a senior
strategy officer in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment is essential.

·       
Demonstrated knowledge in communication of
sensitive information to business-wide leadership, executives, and stakeholders
is desirable.

·       
Demonstrated proficiency of MS office packages
is desirable.
