About US:
The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) is a Ugandan
government agency that provides deposit insurance to depositors in Ugandan
Banks, Credit Institutions and Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions (MDIs).
Job Summary: The Deposit Payout and Claims Officer will
ensure the Fund pays out the insured amounts in the event of initiation of
bankruptcy or liquidation procedure over a Contributing Institution, in
compliance with the law governing bankruptcy and liquidation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Participate in the development and
implementation of a depositor payout system.
·
Reviews depositor records always and undertakes
preparatory reviews of deposit liability records to ensure prompt and accurate
reimbursement of insured deposits.
·
Participates in the issue of guidelines or
regulations to ensure that Contributing Institutions provide accurate deposit
liability records, within a specific time-frame, for aggregation of depositors’
funds and when required by law or regulation (a “Single Customer View (SCV)”).
·
Proposes systems, processes and procedures to
eliminate impediments to prompt reimbursement e.g. eliminating the application
of set-off and aggregation of multiple ownership accounts, removing the need
for claims to be made by Depositors, and
to review and
possibly eliminate any inefficient or counterproductive regulations applicable to the
deposit insurance reimbursement
process.

Participates in the development of
technology-based systems to process depositor information in a systematic and
accurate manner and prompt reimbursement of depositors’ claims.
·
Draft clear communications for the payment
methods and timing for payments to depositors as part of a comprehensive
communications strategy to manage public expectations.
·
Coordinate audits of the
reimbursement process confirm
that appropriate internal controls have been applied during the reimbursement
process and that reimbursements are accurate.
·
Participates in regular contingency planning and
simulation exercises to test the operational readiness of the Fund in carrying
out reimbursements.
·
Performs other work-related duties as assigned,
within your scope of practice.

Issuance of final notice to depositors.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The ideal candidate for the Deposit Protection
Fund of Uganda (DPF) Deposit Payout and Claims Officer job placement must hold
a first-class or upper second-class bachelor’s degree in business
administration, finance, banking, economics, statistics, mathematics or related
area, from an accredited institution, is essential.
·
Demonstrated knowledge of financial and
accounting practices and procedures is desirable.
·
Demonstrated proficiency in MS office packages
is desirable.
·
Prior work experience is not a must.
