The
Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) Uganda’s apex body for the private
sector is collaborating with the MasterCard Foundation (MCF) to co-implement
Young Africa Works in Uganda – Enhancing Lead Firm Structure for Youth
Employment Program. The Intervention’s ultimate goal is to create dignified and
fulfilling work for young women and men and contribute to the effort to lifting
Ugandans out of poverty. The intervention focuses on creating, maintaining and
sustaining growth in job markets through strengthening the capacity of actors
to efficiently produce and sell their goods and services in expanded markets,
developing new diversified financing mechanisms as well as growing the capacity
of business leaders and their support service providers to manage and expand
their enterprises. This transformative intervention will also transition Micro
Enterprises to Small Enterprises.

Job Summary:    The Investment
Specialist/Tourism (IS/Tourism) will head the division within the Project
Management Unit responsible for promoting the development and operation of the
Lead Firm Structure in the Tourism sector. The IS/Tourism will provide required
technical expertise to support, coordinate and implement activities relating to
the development and operations of the LFS in the Tourism sector. He/she will be
an integral member of the project management team. The IS/Tourism will report
to and be guided and supported by the Project Director.

Within
the scope of the Intervention, the IS/Tourism has the responsibility to take
the lead in designing strategies and actions that support producers, producer
organisations, SMEs and Lead Firm(s) to increase business production,
productivity and therefore profitability and returns for all participating
stakeholders in the Tourism value chain. The specific duties of the IS/Tourism

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The ideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s level degree or higher in
economics, tourism, hospitality, business management/administration, development
economics, project management, or related field;

·       
At least five years’ working experience implementing development or
investment projects including in a private sector setting and demonstrated
experience in BDS facilitation to beneficiaries.

·       
Proven analytical skills including ability to interpret economic data;
provide strategic thinking and propose practical remedies to identified
problems;

·       
Experience working with or in international and donor organisations with
implementation of participatory projects;

·       
Demonstrated written, analytical, presentation, reporting and computing
skills and familiarity with modern communication systems (internet, worldwide
web, email etc.)

·

strong understanding of the private sector issues (national, regional and
global)
