Background:

DAI seeks a Grants
Manager for a five-year, $24 million dollar USAID-funded agriculture program.
The Feed the Future Uganda Inclusive Agricultural Markets Activity (FtF IAM)
works with agro-industry/agribusiness firms, Government of Uganda institutions
and agencies, and market actor organizations on creating efficiencies in
cross-market functions that enhance systemic changes to sustainably increase
incomes and improve the livelihoods of households through agriculture-led
inclusive economic growth. The Activity contributes to the Global Food Security
Strategy (GFSS) Uganda Country Plan goal of reducing hunger, malnutrition, and
poverty, as well as the USAID/Uganda Country Development Cooperation Strategy’s
(CDCS) 2016-2021 five-year goal of strengthening Uganda’s systems to accelerate
inclusive education, health, and economic outcomes. The Activity works
throughout the FtF Uganda Zone of Influence (ZOI), which covers 38 districts
spread across four regions of Uganda.

Job Summary: The Grant Manager will supervise the Grants
Assistant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure adherence to the Grants Under Contract Manual
  • Provide procedures and policy guidance and interpretation for
    program staff as well as sub-grantees to ensure adherence to grant
    management policies.
  • Analyze and evaluate grant applications, proposals and awards to
    ensure adherence to grants management policies.
  • Follow all USAID rules and regulations and DAI policies and
    procedures pertaining to the awarding of grants to recipients.
  • Ensure proper negotiation of the terms and conditions for
    sub-grants.
  • Review and analyze budget estimates for allowability, allocability,
    reasonableness, and consistency.
  • Tags avian influenza climate change contract management economic

  • Provide dayâ€toâ€day management of grant fund, including awards
    management, reporting, outreach to potential grantees, and compliance.
  • Routinely monitor grantees to ensure that funds allocated are used
    for specified purposes.
  • Supervise the grants assistant.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
    required.
  • At least 7-10 years demonstrated experience in grants design and
    administration, preferably in agriculture/agribusiness.
  • Prior background in grants award and grants management as well as
    prior experience in the award and administration of subcontracts.
  • Working knowledge of USAID Contract Management and Grants Management
    policies and procedures required, particularly in regards to fixed obligation
    grants.
  • Fluent English required.
