About US Embassy:

The United States Embassy in
Kampala, Uganda has enjoyed diplomatic relations with Uganda for over 30
years.  Ambassador Deborah R. Malac currently heads the U.S Mission to
Uganda.  The Mission is composed of several offices and organizations all
working under the auspices of the Embassy and at the direction of the
Ambassador.

Among the offices operating
under the U.S Mission to Uganda are:

  • United States Agency for International
    Development (USAID)
  • Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
  • Peace Corps

Job Summary: The Fuel Clerk/ Laborer performs manual laborer
duties, cleans and washes government vehicles and work as fuel clerk.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

Water Truck:

·       Assist the water truck driver to deliver water to
office locations and residences whenever there is a water shortage from the
water board.                                                                    
                                                                                 

Supplying Fuel:

·       As pump attendant supply fuel to all motor pool fleet
as well as CDC, DAO, MSG and REFUGEE. 
Maintains a record book for fuel issuance by logging every vehicle that
fuel.  The driver records odometer
reading of vehicle, amount of fuel taken, date and time fuel is taken and pump
reading after taking fuel. The driver signs to acknowledge fuel receipt.
Compiles and enters the fuel records into WebPASS     

Unskilled manual labor:

·       Perform various unskilled manual labor by moving
furniture, carrying and lifting light and heavy objects from place to place
whenever called upon.  Assist skilled
trades workers by carrying, holding, lifting and moving tools and materials
whenever called upon.                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:

NOTE:  All applicants must address each selection
criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting

·       The applicants for the United States US Embassy Fuel
Clerk/ Laborer job opportunity should have completed secondary school

·       Two years of laborer experience, at least one year of
which is managing bulk supplies/commodities

·       Broad knowledge of the various sections and agencies
in the organization to be able to record consumption of commodity in the web
pass system. 

·       Must understand the sensitivities of working with
fuel, the potential opportunities of its misuse and the market value.

·       Knowledge of gas pump operation.

·       Must be capable of performing arduous physical
work.  Attention to detail is required
and the ability to work unsupervised.

·       Language: Level
II (Limited knowledge) English ability is required.  Level II (limited knowledge) of commonly
spoken language in the country is required. This may be tested.

NB: All applicants under
