providing quality care and protection, education and health needs for
vulnerable children. Since its inception in 1991, SOS CV Uganda has reached
over 60,000 children, youths and adults directly and indirectly to become
empowered and self-reliant to contribute significantly to the needs of their
families and communities. Works in partnership with a number of donors,
(institutional and corporate agencies) including; Norwegian Agency for
Development Cooperation (NORAD), Austrian Development Agency (ADA), Grieg
Foundation, ERIKS Development Partner, USAID/Bantwana World Education, AVIS
Foundation, Brand Charity, USAID/Uganda Private Health Support Program (UPHSP),
Terre des Hommes (TDH), Stanbic Bank Uganda, DHL – Go Teach, Madhvani Group of
Companies.

Job Summary:  The Child and Youth Development Coordinator
reporting to the National Programme Development Advisor. S/He is responsible
for driving programme development in the field of Children and Youth ensuring
they are in line with the strategies, policies and plans of SOS, the national
and international related legislation on children and young people’s development.
S/he will work closely with the Programme Directors and Family Like Care Managers
giving strategic direction on matters concerning the children and your people.
The Child and Youth Coordinator will work closed with other organizations and
line ministries to share and learn innovative ways of supporting children and
young people. 
The
Child and Youth development Coordinator contributes to setting and reaching the
strategic objectives and targets of the MA in the area of Children and Youth
development, monitors and evaluates progress towards achieving set targets. She
provides technical expertise and supports the Programme Directors and Family
Like Care Managers in planning, implementing and monitoring of programme
interventions in the area of Child and Youth Development. He/she is responsible
for introducing and monitoring the implementation of quality standards in the
area of Child and Youth Development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·      
Initiate and review the implementation of SOS Care promise embracing all
the commitments, child/youth care and protection policy and development
strategies to ensure that processes are carried out in line with the policies.

·      
 Promotes and ensures access to
quality care, education and career development and health services for children
and youth

·      
To identify capacity gaps within the program location and co-workers
pertaining to  children and youth, and
facilitate capacity building process accordingly.

·      
Leads the formulation of a contextualised, innovative youth development
programme

·      
Leads the National Child and Youth support team, holding regular meetings
and promotes communication with and amongst youth and involves individual
members in specific areas of assignment

·      
Develop and Monitor a mechanism for integrating resource mobilization
strategy into child and youth departmental operational plans in line with SOS
fundraising strategy.

·      
Support the search for job and other occupational placements for Young
people

·      
Facilitate key parts for in-house trainings and workshops for child and
youth care co-workers.

·      
Initiate and develop a networking, partnership and advocacy strategy for
sustainable wellbeing of children and youth in line with the legal framework of
Uganda and SOS International guidelines.

·      
Capacity building, knowledge management and information dissemination in regards
to Alternative Care

 Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
The ideal candidate must hold a Masters
Degree in BA Degree in Humanities, Social work and social administration,
public health, Development
studies or similar discipline.

·      
BA Degree in Humanities, Social work and
social administration, public health
, Development studies or similar discipline

·      
At least five  years of relevant work experiences
particularly with children and youth

·      
Experience in project management, planning,
monitoring and evaluation

·      
Good knowledge and understanding of
children’s ri
ghts
and rights-based approaches in the development of programmes

·      
Awareness and understanding of social
development issues including gender,
education, health, HIV/AIDS, etc

·      
High level of communication and
interpersonal skills

·      
Ability to work under high pressure

·      
Positive and professional approach: highly
organised, results oriented, using initiative
and keeping commitments

·      
Computer literacy (MS Office and MS project)

·      
Experience in community mobilization

·      
Knowledge of national policy developments in
the area of child welfare and youth
development

·      
Problem solving and analysis skills

·      
Ability to build partnerships and mobilize resources for children and
youth

·      
Knowledge on stakeholder management

·      
Excellent communication and listening skills

·      
Organizational and planning skills
