Food
for the Hungry (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development
organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently
operating programs in 26 countries including Canada, Switzerland, Sweden,
United States of America and Japan. FH’s primary goal is to respond to human
suffering and graduate communities from extreme poverty. In Uganda, FH is
operational in the communities ofAdjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale,
Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of
Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk
Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.

Job Summary: The Social Behavior Change
officer will lead the planning and roll out of community dialogues, male
engagement activities, and other related activities in the Growth Health and
Governance project in Palabek, Lamwo.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·      
In close coordination with the Project Coordinator and Community
Engagement Assistants, identify and take lead in the mobilization and
sensitization of target communities for community dialogue and engagement
activities.

·      
Work collaboratively with other project team members to ensure necessary
program planning, development, resource availability and management activities
function smoothly and efficiently.

·      
Supervision of Community Engagement Assistants to ensure completion of
work plans and troubleshooting of challenges.

·      
Participate in the budget planning and ensure the compliance and the
optimal appropriation of allocated program funds.

·      
Liaise with other actors such as the District Health teams, Community
development offices, CSO networks and community structures for partnership and
collaboration

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
The ideal applicant must hold a Degree in Social Sciences, Development
studies, Adult and Community education with extensive practical experience of
not less than 3 years implementing community engagement interventions

·      
Past experience in community mobilization and management of community
level activities

·      
Prior training on gender theory and work on gender issues a significant
plus

·      
Past experience preferable with a busy NGO implementing Health or Social
Change related activities in Northern Region.

·      
Must have motorcycle riding skills with a valid and clean permit and be
willing to access communities by motorcycle
