Job Title:        IPT-G (Intra-Personal Therapy for
Groups) Promoter (2 Job Vacancies)

About US:

Food
for the Hungry (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development
organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently
operating programs in 26 countries including Canada, Switzerland, Sweden,
United States of America and Japan. FH’s primary goal is to respond to human
suffering and graduate communities from extreme poverty. In Uganda, FH is
operational in the communities ofAdjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale,
Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of
Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk
Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.

Job Summary:   To plan and implement IPT-G activities for
communities of operation of the “Decreasing Stunting by Reducing Maternal
Depression” project in Lamwo

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·      
Key Result – Carry out IPT-G Activities.

·      
Conduct an initial community census in all project villages where
pregnant women and mothers of children below two years (which we refer to as
“neighbor women”) will be identified

·      
Organize all households in the community into IPT-G groups, including
depressed mothers of children under two years of age and their children under
two.

·      
Identify and mobilize IPT-G Volunteers from among the Neighbor circles to
form IPT-Gs

·      
Review flipchart lessons plans for behaviour change communication with
IPT-G volunteers every two weeks and ensure they understand the information
well and can teach the information in a participatory manner within their
neighbor circles. (Training provided)

·      
Participate in Barrier Analysis on Essential Health Actions, Infant and
Young Child Feeding, Health-seeking Behaviour, and Family Planning (training
provided)

·      
Facilitate organized, participatory learning sessions with each of their
IPT-Gs every two weeks, following the lesson plans in the educational materials
provided.

·      
Visit, monitor and evaluate each IPT-G volunteer at least Monthly,
supervise the work of IPT-G volunteers by accompanying them on home visitations
to neighbor circle members and observing them provide group instruction.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
The ideal candidate must hold a Degree in Humanities, Education, Social
work, Health, Agriculture, or another approved field of study from a recognized
university. A diploma with Child development bias is added advantage.

·      
At least two (2) years’ practical field experience working with
communities and children in holistic developmental practice and experience.
