UAPOM Life Assurance
Uganda is part of the Old Mutual group of companies and is a leading Life
Assurance company in the · Uganda. UAP Life Assurance is regulated by the
Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda.

Job Summary:  The Managing Director will lead the company,
grow the business and remain highly competitive in the market. The incumbent is
responsible to the Board of Directors for overseeing all the strategic,
operational and financial performance of the company through visionary
leadership and effective management of the executive team. .

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Providing strategic leadership to the company
to deliver on Its mandate as stipulated in the Company’s strategy

·       Leading and overseeing formulation, implementation
and review of the Strategic Plan, business plan, procurement plan and annual
work plan of the company and reporting to the Board

·       Ensuring continuous achievement of the
Company’s financial and operating goals and objectives while ensuring continuous
improvement in the quality and value of services

·       Provides general oversight of all activities
of the company and manage the day-to-day operations for a smoothly functioning
and efficient organization

·       Assure program quality and organizational
stability through development and implementation of standards and controls,
systems and procedures, and regular evaluation

·       Set and monitor operations budget

·       Ensure compliance of the underwriting
policies in line with the company’s strategic risk management framework

·       Oversee the underwriting, claims, product
development, customers service and premium processing functions with the
objective of enhancing operational efficiency

·       Develop a robust Reinsurance program

·       Ensure compliance of the operating guidelines
in line with the company policy and regulatory requirements

·       Ensure appropriate staffing levels, effective
performance management and motivations staff

·       Assure a work environment that recruits,
retains and supports quality staff and ensures an effective process for selecting,
developing, motivating, and evaluating staff

·       Developing and strengthening networks and
partnerships with agencies, the private sector and development partners for
good business relationships.

·       Promoting the company’s image and developing
a good working relationship with all stakeholders and partners

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

·       The applicant must hold a Masters or Post
graduate degree in insurance, audit, accounting, finance, actuarial science,
business studies or banking.

·       A minimum of ten years of experience in a
managerial capacity in insurance, accounting, finance, actuarial science or
banking.

·       Strong negotiation and reporting skills

·       Strong presentation skills

·       Good mentorship and coaching skills

·       Report and speech writing skills

·       Good analytical, investigative and inspection
skills

·       Knowledge of Strategic management, project
planning and budgeting resource management, implementation as well as
monitoring and evaluation

·       Leadership and supervision skills

·       Strong organization and interpersonal skills

·       Ethical and integrity.
