Job Summary:  The IT Coordinator will assist the
organization in harnessing the potential of Information and Communication
technology by supporting the use of ICT by children, communities, sponsors and
Plan International staff in support of child centered community development and
building relationships. The incumbent will assist in implementing the Country
strategic Plan through the use of Information and Communication technology.

To manage the
Information and Communications Technology (IT) environment and services
(including responsibility for information security) within the country under
the direction of the HOO and the Regional IT Manager.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Country IT
    strategic Plan
  • Maintain the availability and reliability of the IT infrastructure,
    applications and connectivity
  • Develop Country IT budget in consultation with Plan program areas
    and region.
  • Maintain agreed levels of service provision and service levels
  • Control IT expenditure within approved limits and management of
    approved IT budget
  • Participate as a member of the extended CMT.
  • Provide IT support to delivering program outputs
  • Provide IT expertise to IT in the communities (IT as a medium of
    development – IT4D)
  • Lead the provision of technical support for corporate applications,
    including installation and upgrades
  • Manage IT risks
  • Participate in system/project testing, rollout and certification
  • Lead the provision of technical solutions and systems to meet local
    requirements
  • Provide content input to IT staff recruitment, training and
    development
  • Provide training and support on technical aspects of corporate
    applications and information security responsibilities
  • Provide Risk Management advice to local management team.
  • Provide supplemental policies and guidelines for local security
    environment
  • As Local Information Security Officer (LISO) perform ongoing
    activities as required by corporate policy
  • Represent the Country internally and externally in the area of IT

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for Plan International IT Coordinator placement must
    hold a Degree in ICT / Computer Science
  • Five years of relevant working 
    experience in a similar role
  • Good knowledge of computer software and hard ware support functions
  • Knowledge of server installations, maintenance and administration
  • Knowledge of design, installation and administration of relational
    database systems.
  • ICT Project planning and management
  • Knowledge of local network installations maintenance and
    administration
  • Knowledge of Wide Area network installations maintenance and
    administration
  • Knowledge of telecommunication technologies installations, maintenance
    and administration.
  • Reasonable knowledge of development work of the NGO sector and
    current issues in the field of development in general.
  • Project and general management skills
  • Capability to coordinate and cooperate within interdisciplinary
    teams
  • Able to prioritise work effectively for execution with limited
    resources
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills
  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Strong negotiation, facilitating and influencing skills
  • Working knowledge of English and the common national language
  • Proficiency with computer systems; networks and information security
    management
