The Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) is the leading
humanitarian organization in Uganda. Since its inception in 1939 as a small
women’s emergency organization, URCS has developed over the years into a
formidable well-respected humanitarian agency. In 1941, it became a branch of
the British Red Cross. The URCS was recognised by an “Act of Parliament in
1964” and admitted as a member of International Federation of Red Cross
and Red Crescent in 1965.

Job summary: The Coordinator Resource
Mobilization is responsible for fundraising and mobilizing resources for the
National Society. This position plays a key role in the determination of URCS
resource mobilization goals, plans and Budgets. The position holder will ensure
that all possible ways of fundraising are utilized in line with the Mandate of
the URCS in this country.

The successful
candidate must be ready to work on a negotiated commission.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·      
Responsible for the implementation of the URCS
Resource Mobilization Plan of Action;

·      
Develop strategic fund-raising/resource
mobilization work plans and budgets for URCS at both National and Branch level;

·      
Develop, implement and manage the fund-raising /
resource mobilization activities and projects for the National Society;

·      
Co-ordinate, monitor and support all
fund-raising/resource mobilization projects;

·      
Plan and budget for the required financial
resources;

·      
Launch fundraising appeals to pertinent
stakeholders on behalf of the URCS to support it with resources to enhance the
humanitarian cause;

·      
Ensure good corporate and private resource
mobilization relationships;

·      
Initiate and manage business IGA projects.

·      
Plan and coordinate internal communications of
URCS:

·      
Create presentations, press releases,
communication materials, organizes events, and makes presentations to URCS
stakeholders;

·      
Liaise with Program Managers to organize events
geared towards raising resources for the region and the National Society;

·      
Initiate/build relationships with possible
partners for increased support for URCS;

·      
Monitor operational changes through ongoing
contact with the management team, and develop messages based on these changes;

·      
Plan for required resources for resource
mobilization activities;

·      
Take accountability for the effective
utilization and accounting of all resources in your custody;

·      
Initiate and draw of budgets for the National
Resource Mobilization activities;

·      
Generate and compile quarterly and annual
activity reports for the Resource Mobilization / Fundraising Department;

·      
Promote effective people management and provide
developmental mentoring and coaching for his/her direct reports;

·      
Recruit, organize and manage volunteers to carry
out various functions within URCS;

Areas:

Acquisition of new funds from the non-
traditional Red Cross Donors.

·      
Establishment of new partnerships with potential
funders.

·      
Increased funding from the Private &
Corporate Sectors.

·      
Increased unrestricted income for Uganda Red
Cross Society.

Established and consolidated Income Generating
Activities for URCS.

·      
Established database of URCS Donors.

·      
Development of business projects that generate
income to URCS.

·      
Support Branches in Resource Mobilization

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·      
The ideal candidate must   Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public
Relations, Resource Mobilization and Cooperate Affairs Management,
International Business Administration or a related field from a reputable
institution;

·      
Post Graduate qualification in Marketing, Public
Relations, BBA, Resource Mobilization and Cooperate Affairs Management or a
related field from a reputable institution;

·      
Additional professional qualification or
certification to a relevant international professional association

·      
At least 5 years’ experience as a Resource
Mobilisation professional in a senior position;

·      
Proven track record of managing relationships
and contacts with Corporate, Business and Media Sectors

·      
Experience in organising meetings, making
presentations to stakeholders and ensuring visibility of the organisation at
local and international meetings and conferences.

·      
Experience in production of periodic and annual
reports;

·      
Experience in networking and relationship
management.

·      
Resource mobilization/fundraising.

·      
Ability to communicate verbal and written ideas
effectively to individuals and different audiences;

·      
Ability to work effectively across all internal
functional groups;

·      
Innovative person with high sense of
conceptualization of issues and opportunities;

·      
High level of resilience and endurance;

·      
Good interpersonal and presentation skills;

·      
Ability to work under pressure with limited
supervision;

·      
Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple
tasks.

·      
Good attention to detail.

Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
