Job Summary:  The Community Engagement & Development
Assistant will be providing day to day implementation of planned project
activities under the guidance of the project coordinator management and
oversight of the implementation of the Sustaining Education Efforts in Karamoja
(SEEK –Project) that aims to enroll and retain 15000 out of school children in
63 primary schools in Kotido and Kaabong districts by 2021. World Vision Uganda
will work closely with community structures and local leadership to ensure
project successes, ownership and sustainability in the targeted schools.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Community Engagement and Design Processes

       
Support in data collecting and community
engagement on community perception on WV identity

       
Support in disseminating of information in a
message box and engage

       
Support community in developing a community
communication plan

       
Support the Identification and engagement of key
stakeholders at parish and sub-county level, Engaging local partners in the
wellbeing activities.

       
Support and supervise the starter groups in
their community engagement and exploration of the local context in the focus
areas.

       
Support and supervise the assessment team on
Identification of the most vulnerable in the focus areas and vulnerability
assessment processes.

       
Mapping capacity and resources of the community
and community in Reflection and planning for base level at each step of
critical path for the next step.

       
Organize and support community summit at Parish
level

       
Support the community in setting community
vision and priorities with starter groups members.

Sponsorship Community engagement and RC Registration.

       
Sharing the vision and priorities with the wider
community for validation.

       
Raising community awareness for sustainability
and transition.

       
Support and engage the community in Celebrating
the efforts and solidarity of critical path steps completions.

       
Manage Child Sponsorship communications and registration
processes of RCs.

       
Expeditiously follow up on all Sponsorship
communications from NO and SOs.

       
Registration of Children in sponsorship program
and sharing their histories with SO.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

       
The applicant for the World Vision Community
Engagement & Development Assistant job placement should preferably hold a Diploma
and/or a Bachelor Degree in Humanities (Development studies, social sciences,
SWASA, Economics, community development)

       
Good knowledge and working experience of
Karamoja context, a minimum of 1 year experience of direct implementation for
development programs in Karamoja region. Work experience in sponsorship
programs is an advantage.

       
Work experience in Community engagements,
Assessment and qualitative data collections especially using FGD & KII
methodology.

       
Knowledge of Local Language (Thur-Luo and
Akarimojong)

       
Ability to ride a motor cycle with a valid
ridding permit is a MUST

       
Should be a problem solver with high level of
creativity and sensitivity to conflict

       
Good knowledge of data collection techniques
like conducting focused group discussions, key informant interviews and high
documentation skills.

       
Strong demonstrable skills on child protection
issues and the national policies.

       
Strong understanding of the child and adult
safeguarding case management and reporting

       
Good level of conflict sensitivity and mediation
skills.

       
Basic understanding of Qualitative and
Quantitative data collection skills and analysis

       
Community mobilization and engagement skills

       
Reporting and documentation skills

       
Problem solving and decision making skills.

       
Ability to work in hard to reach context

       
Flexibility with ability to set priorities.

       
Team work

       
Knowledge in computer Literacy
