Job Summary:  The Communications Analyst will therefore be
playing an important role of supporting UFPC in enhancing strategic
communication and partnership among the consortium member organisations and
between UFPC and the Government of Uganda, Development Partners and other
relevant FP stakeholders. This includes partner/service mapping; identification
and documentation of good FP practices/models; communicating with stakeholders
on UFPC strategies and achievements; and identification and documentation of
opportunities for advancing FP in Uganda. 
He/she will provide strategic communications support for UFPC staff and
member organizations to strengthen communication mechanism and visibility.
He/she will support internal and external communications with support from the
UFPC National Coordinator. Overall, he/she will be engaged in strengthening
UFPC presence and capacity both online (Social media, web) and offline.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  The Communications Analyst will be
responsible for:

  • Mapping of FP implementing partners and regularly updating the
    database in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
  • Identifying and following up on FP issues for joint advocacy/policy
    dialogue by the Consortium – and other relevant FP stakeholders – and
    generate relevant evidence to facilitate advocacy processes.
  • Identifying, documenting and disseminating good FP practices both
    from UFPC members and other partners locally and internationally to
    facilitate learning and innovation.
  • Documenting and disseminating UFPC plans/strategies and achievements
    to relevant stakeholders to garner support for FP and improve UFPC’s
    visibility.
  • Identifying and documenting opportunities for advancing FP through a
    concerted effort as a Consortium.
  • Working on the knowledge management component of UFPC work.
  • Working as a liaison person between UFPC member organisation, and
    between UFPC and the Government, Development Partners and other
    stakeholders in advancing the FP agenda.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by UFPC or UNFPA.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations UNFPA Communications
    Analyst job opportunity should hold an advanced degree in communication,
    journalism or other related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in communication/journalism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong rapport with high-level stakeholders and
    staff members of government entities and various organizations such as
    NGOs, CSOs, etc.
  • Ability to write for multiple audiences and types of publications,
    such as news updates for the public or technical briefs for experts.
  • Demonstrable experience in engaging external partners and
    stakeholders in a professional capacity.
  • Strong drive for results with proven track record of meeting tight
    deadlines.
  • Understanding of complex online knowledge management systems.
  • Background in policy advocacy and working with government officials,
    subject area experts, service providers, and other stakeholders relevant
    to this position.
  • Knowledge of UFPC structure and established connections to UFPC
    member organizations would be considered an advantage.
  • Languages: Fluency
    in oral and written English.
