About US:
The Uganda Development
Corporation (UDC) was set up by the Uganda Development Corporation Act 2016 as
the investment arm of Government with the primary objective of facilitating
industrial and economic development of the country,
This objective is met through;
establishment of subsidiary and associated companies, entering into public
private partnerships with any commercial, industrial or agricultural
undertaking or enterprises, assisting in financing and management of undertakings
promoting industrial or economic development; and promoting and facilitating
research into industrial development,
Job Summary: To support planning and implementation of UDCs
investments and maintain a monitoring and evaluations system which facilitates
the analysis of social and development impacts of UDC’s activities.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
·
Design and implement a robust M&E system to
facilitate performance measurement throughout the corporation’s
projects’/investments’ lifecycle in accordance to the logical framework and
reporting requirements.
·
Make detailed evaluation assessments,
observations, analyse data and interpret results using quantitative/qualitative
methods and statistics.
·
Undertake regular visits to various UDC
investments/projects to support and monitor their progress and compliance.
·
Regularly review, to identify the limiting
factors in the implementation of UDC’s approved plans, policies, programs and
investments.
·
Oversee the development, implementation,
management and conducting of research studies to support relevant projects/
investments.
·
Determine the feasibility of developing new
research, based on projects rollout to generate knowledge for project
advancement.
·
Generate and disseminate highlights of research
in appropriate formats to various stakeholders.
·
Spearhead preparation of annual and midterm work
plans/budgets for the corporation, in line with the approved strategic plan,
policies, programs and projects.
·
Carry out regular and timely reviews of the
progress in implementing the corporation’s approved plans, budgets, policies,
programs and projects.
·
Manage and lead the Research, Monitoring and
Evaluation team.
·
Any other duties that may be assigned from time
to time.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
·
The ideal applicant Master’s degree majoring in
any of the following fields; Economics, Statistics, Development Planning,
Economic Policy and Planning, Development Economics, Research/Policy Analysis
or closely related discipline from a recognized institution
·
At least 8 years working experience of research
or evaluation experience 5 years of which should have been at senior level.
·
Practical experience with a wide range of
research methodologies.
·
Proficiency in Microsoft office, spread sheet
analysis software
·
Articulate, professional and able to communicate
with confidence with stakeholders, investors and staff.
·
Ability to work independently with initiative to
manage high volume workflow
·
Strong analytical skills with experience in
statistical modeling and analysis.
·
Strategic planning skills
·
Ability to develop research proposals.
·
Ability to work with data manipulation software
(i.e. SPSS/SAS, Epidata, and Microsoft Excel Macros)
·
Interpreting data, report writing and making
actionable recommendations.
·
Ability to generate competitive project
quotations and budgets for various research tasks.
