About US:

The Infectious
Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization.
IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and
Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 150 publications and have impacted
on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over
41 grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May
2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of health
sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of
health.

Job Summary: The
Project Rider is responsible for a new project called the TB Screening Improves
Preventive Therapy Uptake (TB SCRIPT) Trial.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in the enrollment phase of the study by mobilizing for
    potential study participants for screening.
  • Verify the participant’s residence and report changes of residence
    and/ or guardianship status to senior study personnel.
  • Participate in household survey activities.
  • Collect participants and bring them to the clinic when they have
    missed a routine visit or are found to be ill or in need of medical
    attention.
  • Working to ensure participant adherence of the study protocol
    procedures.
  • Counseling of participant and/ or family members when necessary

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities.
  • Prior experience working as a Rider on trials and/or longitudinal
    studies
  • Good working knowledge of TB and HIV care and treatment
  • Fluency in Luganda.
  • Have a valid riding permit
  • Demonstrate experience with participant mobilization and tracking
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under stringent deadlines and to work independently
  • Excellent attention to detail
