energy products that empower those living off-grid. Over 34m people in Uganda
are off-grid, which equates to 6.2m households who have no access to power and
instead depend on kerosene for light and local businesses for phone charging.
To address this, Fenix International has developed ReadyPay, a new Pay-To-Own
Solar Power System. Coming in a range of kits, ReadyPay Power Systems are
designed to provide clean light, phone charging, entertainment and more for
those living off-grid.

Job Summary:  The Business Strategy Analyst will be
responsible for making data-driven strategic recommendations that will directly
contribute to the team’s business plan, business model and processes, as well
as regional business development efforts. This position offers an incredible
opportunity to work with a team of business development professionals and
engineers and directly contribute to the success of the team. Candidates must
have a passion for entrepreneurship, renewable energy and sustainable
development in Frontier Markets. As a Business Strategy Analyst, you will be
based in Kampala, Uganda, working on critical projects with immediate impact
under the supervision of the Business Development Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Business Strategy

• Develop, update and maintain the financial business plan as new data
  is collected and development hypotheses are refined
• Explore cost optimization strategies in the different departments of
  the business whilst maintaining an excellent customer experience
• Set up and conduct A/B tests and perform statistical analysis on the
  results to drive necessary business and marketing insights
• Identify and communicate areas for continual improvement of staffing
  and commission models for the human intensive departments (technical,
  call-centre, sales, etc.); recommend and initiate process improvements
• Build scenarios into the financial model (cost analysis, break even,
  etc.) and strategically analyze results
• Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports to enable key
  strategic decisions that will impact the entire business with the use of
  our data analytics and visualization software
• Develop cutting edge new metrics and analysis to evaluate customer
  behaviour and sales trends
• Collaborate with the software team on database architecture and data
  collection processes

Market expansion

• Conduct macroeconomic analysis of potential new markets (new
  customer market segments and new geographies) and draw actionable
  recommendations
• Revise hypotheses and adjust the business model for each new market
  taking into consideration local specificities

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

• The applicant for the Fenix International Business Strategy Analyst
  job must hold a Master’s  degree
  (MBA, engineering, economics, finance) and work experience in data
  analysis/ statistics/ financial analysis, or related fields
• At least two years of work experience in financial modelling and
  financial data analysis
• A team player who’s also an independent thinker
• A robust analytical skill-set, endless curiosity and a desire to
  think outside the box
• Deadline-driven, organized and able to multitask
• Excellent Excel skills, including the capacity to build outstanding
  charts, diagrams and dashboards
• Proficiency with statistical analysis programs such as  STATA
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (English)

Desired Skills

• Experience with visualization software tools, in particular, Tableau
  strongly desired
• SQL knowledge and experience
• Experience in analyzing financial models and write financial
  scenarios
• Education and/or work experience in the developing world, ideally
  East Africa
