About US:

The
Uganda Cancer Institute is mandated by me UCI Act of 2016 to undertake cancer
care, research and training. The UCI is also the designated EastAfrica Regional
Centre of Excellence in Cancer Care, Research and Training.

The
Institute officer’s comprehensive cancer care for screening, diagnosis, policy,
care, research and training with all treatment modalities. In a bid to improve
the services offered to Ugandans, UCI is expanding its radiotherapy facility
having acquired additional two radiotherapy machines.

 It is critical to the evolution of a National
Centre of Excellence, providing specialized treatment and care for all types of
cancer using all the available subspecialty expertise possible, as well as
engineering oncology-centered research and training.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 

·        
Receive
and triage patients

·        
Carry
out health education and pass on information to clients concerning treatments,
their outcomes, side effects and management;

·        
Participate
in treatment planning of patients and clinical follow ups;

·        
Participate
in brachytherapy insertions;

·        
Prepare
patients for treatments;

·        
Offer
holistic care of cancer patients;

·        
Participate
in management of palliative care patients and pain control;

·        
 Attend departmental meetings;

·        
Assist
Medical Officers and Radiation Oncologists when running clinics and clinical
procedures;

·        
Adhere
to professional code of conduct; and

·        
Carry
out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:

·        
Must
be trained at a Registered Level (Diploma) as a Nurse in a Recognized
Institution;

·        
 Must be registered with the Nurses and
Midwives Council;

·        
 Should be patient, focused and have a pleasant
personality; and
