About MSC:
The Microfinance Support Centre Limited (MSC) is a linchpin
of Government of Uganda
(GOU) micro credit programmes under the Rural Financial
Services Strategy. MSC facilitates access to affordable, sustainable and
convenient financial and Business Development services to active and productive
Ugandans. MSC Ltd supports legally established entities engaged in the value
chain namely; production, value addition and marketing enterprises. MSC offers
affordable credit through its network of 13 regional offices spread throughout
the country. It has so far served clients in 110 districts in Uganda. It gives
priority financing to support the agricultural production value chain namely;
production, value addition and marketing.  Besides credit, MSC provides
capacity building to its clients including SACCOs, Cooperative Unions, MFIs and
SMEs to enable them manage their organizations sustainably.
Job Summary:   The Finance Officer will provide accurate and
efficient Zonal accounting services, reporting and administration services and
ensure that transactions are in compliance with MSC’s internal control
regulations and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
To implement the Company financial and
accounting, policies and procedures.
To undertake financial analysis of clients’
appraisal reports and provide guidance on the loan process.
To manage all imprest funds at the Zonal office
and ensure that adequate float is maintained and expenditure is according to
the budget.
To maintain accounting records of the Zone.
To participate in the preparation and
implementation of the zonal budget.
To maintain and regularly updates the Zone’s
assets register.
To undertake institutional training, development
needs assessment and provision of technical assistant to all clients at the
To prepare vouchers and issuing cheques upon
proper approval and signatures of authorized persons.
To file accounting records including paid vouchers
and supporting documents.
To bank all Company revenue.
To enter financial transactions into the
computer system.
Extracts and compiles financial data as directed
for inclusion in a variety of financial reports
Ensures weekly and monthly timely reporting e.g.
customer care, productivity, liquidity, reconciliation, etc
Provides administration support.
Key Result Areas:

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
The incumbent must hold a Bachelor of Commerce
or Business Administration with emphasis on accounting (accounting major); or
any other mathematical degree
Level/Part II professional accounting
qualifications in CPA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualifications is must;
A minimum of four years of relevant working
experience in accounting with a reputable organization. Preferably in the
financial service industry
Experience in automated accounting systems will
be an added advantage;
Possession of relevant computer skills.
Ability to build relationships and relate well
with others to facilitate accomplishment of work targets.
Ability to analyze and interpret financial
statements and other data.
Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
Ability to demonstrate sound work ethics and
high levels of integrity
Ability to gather information.
Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work.
Ability to train and educate clients.
