About US:

The International Rescue Committee helps people whose lives
and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and
gain control of their future. It was created by Albert Einstein more than 80
years and has been working in Uganda since 1998. It has particularly working in
the conflict zones where tens of thousands of people have been kills and over
1.6 million displaced. Following a peace agreement in 2006, Ugandans are
returning home and looking to rebuild their lives. The IRC is there to protect
women and children from violence and exploitation by fostering a safe
environment and encouraging education, and is supporting farmers and small
businesses, and helping communities promote peace and long-term development.

About Project:

IRC is implementing a Health project with an Integrated
Immunization and Family Planning Service Delivery Model in Moroto. The project
has a combined service provision model for family planning and immunization –
services that is co-located and available to all women on the same day. The
International Rescue Committee in collaboration with the London School of
Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and the Pfizer Foundation, are evaluating an
intervention that integrates family planning and immunization services within
health facilities and in communities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·        
Interact with community members with the highest
level of professionalism and respect

·        
Explain the study rationale comprehensively and
answer questions from the public about the study

·        
Recruit participants to take part in the study

·        
Seek and obtain informed consent from study
participants

·        
Interview service users and healthcare providers
in health facilities and/or the community using study tools

·        
Record information on health services provided
in health facilities

·        
Record participant responses using paper forms

·        
Enter text and numeric information into an
existing database using a computer

·        
Complete daily scheduled activities and all
tasks assigned by the team leader in a timely manner

·        
Position may involve extensive day travel and
walking in the communities

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

·        
The ideal candidate for the Data Collector job must
hold a Diploma in Public Health or a related field. Bachelor’s degree in a
related field will be added advantage

·        
At least two years of working experience in
health related research work

·        
Working with district health teams, health
facility staff and community based groups such as VHTs.

·        
Previous work with an NGO in similar programs.

·        
Remains productive when under pressure.

·        
Ability to enhance good interpersonal
relationship.

·        
Good communication skills.

·        
A good command of both written and spoken
English. Knowledge of the Ngakarimojong.

·        
Relates and works well with people of different
cultures, gender and backgrounds.

·        
Flexibility and prepared to work additional
hours

·        
Ability to work both independently and as part
of a team

·        
Able to respond rapidly to changing
environments, yet remain productive and focused;

·        
Strong and fast computer skills (primarily Word,
Excel, and Power Point and outlook).
