National Agricultural Advisory
Services (NAADS) is an organization established under the Act of Parliament of
2001. The Government of Uganda through NAADS is supporting sugarcane production
using an out grower’s scheme arrangement in several districts in Northern
Uganda in partnership with participating District Local Governments, Farmer
Co-operatives and Horyal Investment Holding Company Ltd.
Job Summary: The Field Based Agricultural Supervisor will
ensure technical supervision of all the sugarcane production activities
specified in the contract and provide monthly reports to management through
field based contract management team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out technical
verification/Inspection of the sugar cane fields from where seed cane will
be harvested. - Receive and inspect the seed cane at the
factory premises of Horyal Investment Holding Company prior to planting in
the out growers prepared fields. - Supervise the distribution and planting
of the seed cane in the different areas of location where sugar cane out
growers are located. - Establish and report the acreage of bush
cleared, land prepared, area weeded, area planted and quantity of
agricultural chemicals used on a bi-weekly basis. - Ensure that all production management
practices in the participating members fields are conducted to the
required standard. - Preparation and submission of reports in
line with the specified/relevant activities. - Preparation of certificate of work
completion that will inform the payment decision by NAADS Management. - Carry out any other tasks as assigned by
the contract management team.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant for the National
Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) Field Based Agricultural Supervisor
job placement must hold a Diploma in Agriculture with a bias in crop
production and management. Additional qualification(s) are added
advantage. - Two years of professional experience in
the field of agricultural extension and working with farmers’/farmer
organizations who are actively involved in crop production, especially at
estate level. - Experience in plantation agriculture,
especially sugarcane production. - Adult Ugandan.
- Strong analytical skills
- Must have good computer skills (MS Word,
Excel and Power Point) - Demonstrable experience and excellent
skills in report writing - Excellent communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and the
ability to work effectively with a range of institutions and environment. - Ability to work for long hours within a
set-up of competing priorities. - Ability to respond timely to issues
arising at work place and those raised by superiors. - Age: Below 45 years
