with a Christian perspective. In 2004, UCU became the first private university
to be chartered or accredited by the government of Uganda. Located in Mukono,
less than an hour’s drive from the capital city Kampala, Uganda Christian
University is one of Uganda’s leading teaching and research universities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Grants officer will assist the BBUC administration in developing
    relations with Development Partners abroad and in Uganda.
  •  Assist the Administration of
    the BBUC in planning and proposing areas of development in the College,
    plus the pertinent human resources and infrastructure.
  • Assist the Administration in writing proposals for development that
    need and can attract donor funding.
  • Assist Administration in “marketing” those proposals both in Uganda
    and outside Uganda.
  • Co-ordinates and monitors on-going development projects in the
    University.
  • Participate in the spiritual and social life of the BBUC Community
    as well as creating partnerships with dioceses and churches.
  •  Reports to the Planning and
    development Committee and Board of the University.
  •  Develop strategies to work
    with BBUC stakeholders including alumni, parents, and employers for
    funding and other development.
  • Report to donors on project progress and finances.
  • Reports to the Planning and development Committee and Board of the
    University
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal-BBUC.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Master’s Degree in either
    Development Economics, Development Studies, Business Administration,
    Project planning and management, Public administration and management,
    Communications, English, Journalism, Education, Social Sciences or any
    related field.
  • Must be a mature and committed Christian.
  • Must be a person of high integrity and self-driven.
  • A Certificate in Project Planning and management, monitoring and
    evaluation or Grants management will be an added advantage.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, social
    sciences, Education, journalism, Communications, English or any related
    field.
  • The candidate must have 
    proven work experience of at least five years  performing similar tasks
  • Must be a team leader and a person of affable character
  • Should have proven work experience in writing successful grant
    proposals and reports to both government and private funding sources.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Must have experience in coordinating grant development teams.
  • Should have had exposure to working under pressure with strict
    adherence to deadlines.
  • Must have budgetary skills and analysis capabilities.
  • Be client service oriented and have sound conflict management and
    time management skills.
  • Should have good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and
    Excel.
