the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development
Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda
Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International
Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25%
stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development
projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing
financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: The Banking Officer – Treasury Operations will
be responsible for prompt processing of Treasury Back Office activities in
accordance with the set process and controls in order to safeguard the bank
against any risks or loss and contribute towards customer service excellence.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Timely and accurate processing of treasury Back office activities to
include; interbank deal settlements and confirmations, CSD account
opening, government securities and rate maintenance. - Reporting on and monitoring interbank limits and report any
exceptions to the relevant stakeholders. - Compile and maintain an MIS on trends and statistics on Treasury
Function Deals to aid in predicting market trends. - Performance of due diligence check prior to opening Central
Securities Depository accounts for the customer and during the course of
the relationships. - Compliance / adherence to the set processes flows and procedures
while highlighting any areas that require improvements. - Guide on the preparation and submission regulatory reports and any
other month end report to regulators and other related parties. - Take action on exceptions / outstanding items on the Bank of Uganda
and Nostro accounts. - End of day reconciliation / reporting for all the Treasury back
office activities to avoid surprises during reconciliation. - Receive and resolve customer queries that relate to Treasury
Operations within the agreed timelines and the mutual satisfaction of all
parties. - Compliance with the set service standards in the Treasury Service
Level Agreement. - Escalation of any process gaps to actual unit manager or Senior
Banking Officer Treasury Operations. - Identify and Report suspicious activity in line with the AML/CFT,
KYC programs in and the bank policies / regulatory framework. - Resolution of issues identified by the auditors i.e. Internal,
external and BOU.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the DFCU Bank Banking Officer – Treasury
Operations job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree - Treasury Certification (ACI)
- Basic Banking Training.
- At least two years of banking experience in back office operations.
- Insight of the Stock Market mechanisms, Unit trusts operations and
the Capital Markets Regulatory authorities. - Thorough understanding of Treasury processing procedures, rules
& policies, operational risks awareness and counter party limits. - The ability to engage with all the key stake holders in and out of
the organization. - Ability to prioritize daily tasks.
- Ability to work with strict deadlines.
- Customer oriented (Internal and external).
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively work within a team-oriented environment.
- Proactive approach to work with a high level of maturity and self-drive.
- Able to work under very demanding deadlines or timelines.
