less than an hour’s drive from the capital city Kampala, Uganda Christian
University is one of Uganda’s leading teaching and research universities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for entering all payment vouchers
  • Preparing and making adjustment vouchers.
  • Reconciling all control accounts and reporting to the Bursar any
    anomalies.
  • Management, checking and verifying the accuracy of the payroll for
    both full time and part time staff.
  • Reviewing  monthly trial
    balances
  • Training and supervising all accounts personnel.
  • Ensuring that documents, vouchers, cheque counter folios, receipt
    copies and all supporting documents are brought for filing.
  • Preparing quarterly and final financial reports.
  • Managing the staff statutory deductions and ensuring that they are
    carefully done and in time.
  • Ensuring that all donated funds are receipted.
  • Managing the budget including projections and monitoring.
  • Carry out routine bank reconciliations of all bank statements.
  • Reconcile cash and petty cash floats.
  • Supervising  Assistant
    Accountant
  • Any other official duties that the Bursar may assign from time to
    time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal applicant must hold 
    a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or Bachelor
    of Business Science majoring in Accounting or finance from a recognized
    institution of higher learning.
  • A professional qualification (at least level 3) in Accounting or
    Finance, obtained from a recognized institution, is a must e.g.
    CPA/ACCA/CIA/FIA
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Must be a good leader with excellent communication skills.
  • Committed and mature practicing Christian.
  • At least three years of experience performing similar tasks in a
    large and reputable public or private sector organization (One in which
    he/she supervised subordinates)
  • Must be literate in relevant Accounting Packages.
