less than an hour’s drive from the capital city Kampala, Uganda Christian
University is one of Uganda’s leading teaching and research universities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the general administration of Development office.
- Carryout research for grant possibilities/donors.
- Writing of project proposals and grant requests.
- Oversee projects accountability.
- Responsible for preparing accountability for donors.
- Identify UCU professional chairs and possible funders.
- Consulting with other University Offices for fundraising needs,
strategies and proposal writing. - In-charge of organization of annual fundraising events.
- Report to donors on project progress and finances.
- Represent the line DVC to the stakeholders when necessary.
- Network with other institutions (Funders or Partners), float
concepts verbally and in writing and think dynamically about how UCU and
its programmes fit with other organization’s priorities. - Describe easily UCU’s programmes and distinctive features in
creative ways for African and non-African audiences. - Liaise with support organizations abroad.
- Develop strategies to work with UCU stakeholders including alumni,
parents and employers for funding and other developments. - Oversee activities of the Alumni Affairs Office.
- Develop and monitor Development plans in line with the strategic
plan, and maintain the current priority list of development needs by the
target area. - Any other duties as assigned by the line DVC.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Administration or a
Management discipline from a recognized institution of higher learning. - Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Administration or a Management
discipline from a recognized institution of higher learning - A minimum of five years of work experience performing similar tasks
in a reputable organization. - Have a broad knowledge and understanding of development Principles,
with proven analytical, interpretative abilities and report writing
skills. - Must be a person of high integrity and self-driven.
- Must be a team leader and a person of affable character.
- Exposure to working under pressure with strict adherence to
deadlines. - Highly effective interpersonal, communication and negotiation
skills. - Must have budgetary skills and analysis capabilities.
- Be client service oriented and have sound conflict management and
time management skills. - Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be a committed and practicing Christian with a demonstrable
testimony.
