Job Summary:  The Accountant will be tasked with monitoring
of the Programme Area budget

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Cash Management

  • Review Petty cash replenishment vouchers and carry out surprise
    petty cash count on a regular basis as per Plan Uganda’s financial
    guidelines
  • Review requisition forms and payment vouchers for accuracy and
    completeness in line with Plan’s policies
  • Update the excel cash book register at the beginning and close of
    each business day in line with Plan Uganda’s finance guidelines.
  • Prepare and consolidate monthly cash forecasts and refresh for the
    PA in line with Plan Uganda’s finance guidelines.

Reporting

  • Prepare budget Vs actual reports and prepare cashbook & Bank
    reconciliations and as per the guidelines
  • Update the advances register and maintain a file for accruals and
    prepayment reports in line with Plan’s policies
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation as per the Plan Uganda format

Advance management

  • Provide financial trainings to CMP groups and partners as and when
    required to do so
  • Review advance accountability reports submitted by the partners

Payroll process

  • Effect statutory deductions from Staff incomes and consultants and
    make remittances to the relevant organs (NSSF & URA) in line with the
    prevailing laws – Payroll

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for this placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree
    (Hons) in Commerce or Business Administration majoring in Accounting
  • Part professional qualification in accountancy (CPA, ACCA) at
    intermediate or affiliate level. 
  • At least three years of working experience as an Accountant in a busy
    organization and at a responsible supervisory level is essential.
  • NGO experience is an added advantage
