About US:

Uganda Electricity
Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is a Public Limited Liability Company
incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act (Cap 110), the Laws of
Uganda and in conformity with the Electricity Act, 1999. UEGCL started
operation on 1st April 2001 and is wholly owned by the Government of the
Republic of Uganda, with the head office located in Kampala. The mandate of
UEGCL is to establish, acquire, maintain and operate electricity generation facilities
as well as promote Research and Development in the Electricity generation
sector while running the company on sound business principals.

Job Summary:  The Security officer is responsible for the
effective and efficient management of the Security matters of Uganda
Electricity Generation Company Limited.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Identify and manage risk related to
  security.
• Review the security management policies.
• Supervise the outsourced security
  service provider.
• Review company security measures and
  protocol to confirm that all the company sites are safe.
• Ensuring the protection of UEGCL
  property and assets
• Creating a safe and comfortable working
  environment for employees and visitors
• Responding to emergency situations as
  they arise.
• Coordinate multi-functional security
  teams in maintaining security.
• Accurately reporting all incidents to
  senior managers
• Preventing and detecting offences on
  site
• Conducting searches or personnel,
  vehicles and bags etc.
• Monitoring and operating CCTV cameras and
  other recording systems
• Undertaking investigations into reports
  of offences
• Liaising with the emergency services,
  police, ambulance and fire service to resolve issues and maintain security
  and service.
• Preparation of reports regarding
  security issues in UEGCL.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

• The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor
  of Law or any degree related to security. 
• Cadet Course Training
• Certification in a security related area
  is an added advantage.
• Five years of experience in similar organizations,
  police or any security firm of high reputation
• Good observation skills
• Fully aware of arrest and restraint
  techniques.
• Aware of health and safety issues
• Dealing with people politely but in a
  firm manner
• Computer literate, able to use MS Office
  and also visitor management systems.
• Having a professional approach to all routine
  tasks.
• Experience of monitoring and controlling
  security equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively at
  all levels.
• Risk Assessments
• Resuscitation Training
• First aid certificate
• Security conscious
