Job Summary:    The Project
Officer – Primary Education will carry out field assessments, monitoring the
progress of the projects activities and be the key focal point for the
teachers/facilitators, students, caregiver and community groups in one of the
districts mentioned above. Ensuring full inclusion of the most vulnerable
children and families is a key responsibility of this role. The role will be
based directly in the districts and will have direct interaction with teachers,
school management committees, head teachers of selected schools in the district
and community groups, and other stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Undertake timely, Education project
    activity duties as per work plan as delegated by the Project;
  • Ensure timely delivery and
    implementation of project activities;
  • Track project deliverables using
    appropriate tools & indicators;
  • Constantly monitor and report on
    progress of the project to Project Manager;
  • Present reports defining project
    progress, challenges and solutions;
  • Implement and manage project changes and
    challenges to achieve project outputs;
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings,
    appointments;
  • Responsible for mobilization of project
    beneficiaries;
  • Register beneficiary complaints and
    submit those to line manager;
  • Undertake any other duties as
    appropriate and within the post holders capabilities;
  • Conduct follow up on all project
    activities to ensure efficiency, timeliness and program quality;  Participate in information gathering and
    assessments;
  • Carry out site mapping exercises to
    determine the class locations based on population size, education needs,
    and access to formal education;
  • Carry out education service mapping of
    both formal and non-formal services for information sharing and referrals
    with the projects beneficiaries;
  • Participate in additional information
    gathering and assessments as required;
  • Participate in teacher trainings in the
    district;
  • Work with the district education
    department to plan education activities in the district;
  • Monitor field level implementation of
    primary education;
  • Monitor the qualitative and quantitative
    delivery of primary education classes, such as student progress
    appraisals, teaching methods, attendance rates, assets management, etc;
  • Ensure adherence by primary education
    teachers to the standard operating procedures and codes of conduct;
  • Conduct regular coordination meetings
    with primary education teachers, caregivers and community representative
    groups to identify activity progress, successes and areas for improvement;
  • Train teachers/facilitators and
    supervise their development Support continuous performance improvement
    support to the teachers in close collaboration with the district education
    officials;

Reporting and
information management;

  • Prepare weekly reports on qualitative
    and quantitative data against project indicators;
  • Responsible for field level
    documentation, such as attendance sheets, teacher feedback forms and
    community meeting minutes.
  • Monitor the correct usage of documentation,
    and support to fill gaps as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for the Finn Church Aid
    (FCA) Project Officer – Primary Education job must hold a Bachelor’s
    Degree in Primary or Teacher Education from a reputable university;
  • At least three to five years of working
    experience in education, in administration and/or classroom teaching
  • Ability to work efficiently and calmly
    under pressure;
  • Strong empathy skills and genuine care
    and respect for needs of others, especially children refugees;
  • The ability to work in a systematic and
    organized manner;
  • The ability to prioritize competing
    demands;
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles
    and values;
