Job Summary:  The IT manager is responsible and accountable
for the smooth running of computer systems within the limits of requirements,
specifications, costs and timelines. They supervise the implementation and
maintenance of the company’s computing needs. And will be responsible for
supporting the organization’s IT infrastructure, requires 30% frequent travels
upcountry. The position is based in Kampala, Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage information technology and
    computer systems
  • Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT
    and electronic data operations
  • Manage IT staff by recruiting, training
    and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising
    their performance
  • Design, develop, implement and
    coordinate systems, policies and procedures
  • Ensure security of data, network access
    and backup systems
  • Act in alignment with user needs and
    system functionality to contribute to organizational policy
  • Identify problematic areas and implement
    strategic solutions in time
  • Audit systems and assess their outcomes
  • Preserve assets, information security
    and control structures
  • Handle annual budget and ensure cost
    effectiveness
  • Identifying and acting on opportunities
    to improve and update software and systems
  • Running and sharing regular operation
    system reports with senior staff
  • Overseeing and determining timeframes
    for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and
    outages
  • Identifying opportunities for team
    training and skills advancement.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate must hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Possession of CCNA, MCSE, MCITP or any
    relevant professional certification an added advantage.
