Continental Forests
is a Management Contractor for global-woods AG licensed by the government of
Uganda to establish and manage a forest on over 12,000 hectares in Kikonda
Central Forest Reserve Kyankwanzi district, Western Uganda.
Job Summary:   The Sales Assistant will directly handle
timber customers with information, prices and procedures for timber products,
payments and documentation as is appropriate
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • First contact person at Kikonda Timber Yard for information on
    Company Timber Products; Sizes, Prices and availability as well as payment
    and delivery procedures.
  • Collection of products movement documents from Kyankwanzi to other
    destinations from national and district authorities.
  • Support the coordination of timber transportation trucks to supply
    various customers and timber yard
  • Ascertains availability of timber products in the field for
    information and marketing purposes.
  • Supervision of loading of trucks at the yard and in the field
    including of verification of quantities in accordance with Goods Issued
    Notes (GIN).
  • Facilitates the issuance of permits based on requests, orders and
    payments for products.
  • Facilitates the issuance of loading permits to the Processing and
    Security units based on written instructions or documents from Supervisors
  • Ensures that the Permits are processed, signed and issued to the
    relevant units.
  • Collects GINs issued after loading and submits them to the
    Supervisor for analysis
  • Supervision of the cleaning of the loading area.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold an Ordinary level education certificate with
    at least a pass in English and Mathematics;
  • Post-Secondary certificate in business management training
  • Experience in preparing summary reports
  • Full fluency in written and spoken English and local dialects
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Listening actively to customers to identify their needs
  • Using specific product knowledge to provide solutions to customers
  • Prioritizing tasks to maximize efficiency during each work shift
