About US:

Joint Clinical
Research Centre (JCRC) is a National Ugandan Organization that was established
in 1991 as a Medical Institution and HIV/AIDS Centre of Excellence specializing
in Medical Research, Health Care and Training.

Job Summary:
The Counsellor is responsible for offering HIV/AIDS Counselling to private,
study and general clients at the clinic and in the communities. This includes
counselling for; HIV testing, medication (ART and other drugs), informed consent,
reproductive health as well as ongoing psychosocial support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Provide quality Voluntary HIV
  Counselling and testing services to JCRC clients.
• Register clients by assigning
  identification numbers to new clients using the patient care and Navision
  Data bases.
• Offer counselling for informed consent
  to all study clients during screening and when there is protocol
  amendment.
• Provide psychosocial support counselling
  to all JCRC clients and their families.
• Provide adherence assessment, monitoring
  and counselling for ART and other medication.
• Take part in designing and evaluation of
  data collection tools for research and general care.
• Administer quality of life assessment
  and adherence assessment questionnaires for study patients at regular
  intervals during scheduled study visits.
• Provide home based care to clients and
  families with special needs
• Any other duties as may be assigned from
  time to time by your supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

• The ideal candidate for the Joint
  Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) Counsellor job must hold a Degree in
  Counselling and guidance from a recognised institution
• Certificate training in HIV/AIDS
  counselling
• Two years of working experience in
  similar set up.
