About US:

Uganda Electricity
Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is a Public Limited Liability Company
incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act (Cap 110), the Laws of
Uganda and in conformity with the Electricity Act, 1999. UEGCL started
operation on 1st April 2001 and is wholly owned by the Government of the
Republic of Uganda, with the head office located in Kampala. The mandate of
UEGCL is to establish, acquire, maintain and operate electricity generation
facilities as well as promote Research and Development in the Electricity
generation sector while running the company on sound business principals.

Job Summary:   The Human Resource Officer will provide
coordination and support in the areas of human resource operations, performance
management and staff Development that are necessary to maintain a skilled and
competent workforce in UEGCL.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection
    process in line with HR standards as per the UEGCL policy.
  • Carry out induction and orientation of
    all new staff and initiate HR development programs according to processes
    and procedures.
  • Implement of the performance management
    system in UEGCL.
  • Monitor and implement appropriate staff
    well-being and services (e.g. relations, grievances, counseling, salaries
    and benefits)
  • Monitor and manage staff records and
    provide accurate HR information to customers in a timely manner.
  • Participate in developing, reviewing and
    interpreting policies and standards that govern UEGCL staff selection,
    placement, training and development processes.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports and
    other briefs to the HR Manager as and when required.
  • Manage human resource projects in line
    with the people related needs.
  • Manage human resource risk.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate must hold a
    Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business or Human Resources,
  • Written and
    Verbal Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Problem Solving,
    Critical Thinking, Planning Skills, Time Management, Attention to Detail,
    Decision Making.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience
    with a large workforce in a busy organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership and negotiation
    skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational
    skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving
    skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and
    maintain effective business relationships and partnerships with key
    stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high
    level of integrity

  • Knowledge of labor laws
  • Collaborative and coordination skills
  • Conflict resolution skills.
