Joint Clinical
Research Centre (JCRC) is a National Ugandan Organization that was established
in 1991 as a Medical Institution and HIV/AIDS Centre of Excellence specializing
in Medical Research, Health Care and Training.
Job Summary: The
Nursing Officer is responsible for assessing patient’s health problems and
needs, develop and implement nursing care, maintain medical records and engage
in research activities as requested. He/she shall also advise patients on
health.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and give patients report to the
medical staff on duty. - Assess, plan implement and evaluate
nursing care of patients. - Preparing for and attending the doctor`s
ward round, - Sort out investigations ordered and
doing them immediately. - Administer drugs as per doctors’
prescription. - Give ongoing counselling and Directly
Observed Treatment (DOTs), especially to those with known poor adherence
to ARVs and anti TB drugs. - Accompany very sick patients for example
those on oxygen for investigations and those referred to other hospitals
for further management. - Prepare and carry out treatment
procedures as required. - Assist the doctor when carrying out
treatment procedures. - Prepare patients bills for accounts.
- Order drugs from the pharmacy and
sundries from the stores. - Plan and give health education to
patients and their care giver. - Engage in research activities.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from
time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Joint
Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) Nursing Officer job must be a Registered
Nurse, BSN an added advantage - At least two years of general nursing
experience
