provide lasting solutions to poverty, injustice and human suffering. LWF Uganda
works to reduce people’s vulnerability, supporting them to realize their
potential, to build on their assets, and to respond to their own problems and
needs. LWF Uganda currently has five areas of operation in Pader, Kitgum,
Adjumani, Katakwi, Sembabule, Kampala and Kamwenge Districts.

Job Summary:  The Protection Advisor will support LWF Uganda
Country Program to scale up protection programming across all refugee
settlements. The job holder is the overall focal point for the Country Program
on Protection matters. The Protection Advisor will ensure that agreed
procedures, approved frameworks or global humanitarian and sectoral standards
are followed and accountability mechanisms are implemented to ensure high
quality programming and quality of protections services provided by LWF to
refugees. (S)he will ensure strong coordination of protection interventions in
all Sub Programs and that protection is effectively mainstreamed in all sectors
with clear mechanism for Protection Monitoring System put in place and
functioning.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Protection
    Advisor job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law,
    Social Work and Social Administration, 
    Human Rights, Education or related field.
  • Master’s Degree is an added advantage
  • At least five years’ experience in the Protection field implementing
    protection interventions in a humanitarian setting
  • Demonstrable skills and experience in grants and partnership
    management.
  • Excellent understanding & experience in; Humanitarian Protection
    Principles, Protection Minimum Standards and Guidelines, Protection
    Mainstreaming.
  • Very strong interpersonal, cross- cultural and teamwork skills with
    the ability to work with different stakeholders
  • Expert Computer Skills mainly in Microsoft Office package especially
    MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Willing to travel within Uganda, in refugee settlements.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated and able to work in a team
  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English
